Mga sir, just a few questions lang po:
    - Paano ba malalaman if working pa or defective na ang thermostat?
    - Ano po ba itsura nun and san banda sa engine bay makikita?
    - Ano recommended coolant but not too pricey for honda 92...yung National na brand po ba ay pwede na? Yan din kasi ang gamit ko sa isang auto namin.

    TIA

kakapalit ko lang ng coolant sensor and thermostat kahapon.
    symptoms that i've encountered:

    a) ang lakas magbawas ng coolant sa radiator, pero hindi nagagalaw ang coolant sa reservoir.
    b) hard starting. usually, it takes me around 4 tries to start the engine, specially during mornings.
    c) higher than usual FC. my normal FC is around 12 kpl... bumaba ng 9 kpl.
    d) rough engine.
    e) overheat

the thermostat controls that flow of coolant papasok ng engine. pag mainit na, bubukas ang thermostat allowing coolant to flow in... pag lumamig, sarado yung thermostat and it allows the engine to warm to optimal operating temperature.

on the coolant, i use prestone pre-mixed.

Sir 1D4LV, may kinalaman din po pala ang thermostat with these issues?

    think so.
since engine is always running cool, you need extra fuel to run properly.

yung hard starting, malamang dun yun sa coolant sensor... pero someone related to the thermostat, since maski tama ang binibigay na data ni coolant sensor, but sira naman yung thermostat mo, hindi sya bubuka and sasara ng tama.

meron pa palang isang symptom..... nangangamoy ang coolant after shutting down the engine. it means, parating bukas ang thermostat.

I see.

i got mine at 3k for the thermostat valve and assembly.
    700 yung coolant temperature sensor.

pag bagong bukas pa lang ung engine, dapat malamig ung upper radiator hose. pag umabot na sa optimum operating temperature ung engine, dapat mainit ung upper radiator hose.

sir you have a '92 Honda, so I assume na wala pang ECU or computer box yang car mo, carburetor type.
I suggest of removing the thermostat, with this kasi the coolant mix are always circulating and the temp is somewhat constant, unless you have other problem
for the coolant, if you've tight budget use wilkins distilled water mas mura kesa sa mga coolant sa market

Yes sir, carb type po. Hmmmm, from the threads Ive read...removing the thermostat is big no no, right? Pag inalis yun, medyo tataas daw ang FC, aside from that kelangan irekta na ang fan so hinde na marereach ng engine ang required temp nya...and in the long run, it will create bigger problems di po ba?

Yes, do not remove the thermostat. Have it checked and replaced if necessary.

when the radiator is overhauled, practically all the coolant is drained ... you will need 4-6 liters (depends on engine size) to replenish ... the coolant volume is usually stated on owner's manual
