CNS boys, ask ko lang. Kanina kasi I had my car gassed up * Total EDSA(boni), since ubos na yung washer fluid, I told the gas boy to fill it up w/ water. Sabe ko yung sa washer lang and I personally opened the cap of the washer reservoir pa.

Then I went on to check something else, pag balik ko sa kotse, to my surprise and horror, itong si gas boy, binuksan din ang radiiator cap. Siyempre the coolant and water tumapon and medyo madame bumawas. Told him to just put back some water since natapon yung laman.

? ko, will there be an effect on my engine temp or anything? I mean water lang dinagdag niya ulit. Should I add coolant or anything? Or i have nothing to worry about?

btw, the car is the n16 180GT

    Thanks!

Tama ba? Correct me nalang fellow tsikoteers kung mali ako.

Anyway,

thank you guys for the quick reply. I'd assume na okay na yung tap water since konti lang naman siguro and once lang naman.

as much as possible, do not use plain tap water. use distilled water. tap water contains minerals and other impurities which will clog your radiator in the long run.

    You are somewhat right.
Boiled water is usually tap water that has been boiled for at least 15 minutes to sterilize it. It kills any living organisms in the water but leaves them there along with all of the other contaminants that may be present in the water. But bacteria has been removed.

Distilled water is made by boiling water. However the steam, which is pure water is collected and condensed back into water in a separate container. Thats a pure water. There are absolutely no contaminates in it. So if you use tap water on radiator, all water hardening will stay on radiator and then what next, clogged or rusted radiator.

Tap water is fine. Just make it a habit of completely draining & replacing it periodically. On the other hand, distilled water can be left inside the radiator longer because there is no fear of minerals accumulating within.

As for the tap water being boiled then transformed to distilled, you're partly right. Let's take in account the Desalinization plants in the MidEast or in Aircraft carriers, sea water is boiled, steam is collected to be used, and the salts separated and discarded. In the case of radiators, the minerals stay inside causing clogs and corrosions.
