hi all, my car is a 99 Honda Civic SiR. For the past year and a half, i have been plagued by dirty, clogged AC (and icing/sweating on the evap tubes, dirt, slimey stuff everywhere) - you can feel the AC working pero very little air is coming out of the vents. i had it cleaned every 5-6 months. For the first 3 months, AC is very cold and good, then it slowly deteriorates after..

I tried diff AC shops and most of them agree na cleaning lang. All parts are ok daw. i just had my aux fan, expansion valve and dryer replaced. Others are suggesting to eliminate the use of car fresheners, minimizing opening of windows, replacing my old car floor mat and etc..

Also, it seems that i dont have a Cabin/Pollen filter. For Civics, they were only introduced from 2001 and up models.

Any thoughts if my frequent AC cleaning issue can have a long term solution, or could be a possible parts problem (like sa evaporator)?

    thanks

Check if there are blockages from your aircon fan (typically behind glove compartment) to your aircon vent. Baka yun lng yun, kaya mahina yun air na lumalabas.
Check your freon level kung may leaks.

Aircon cleaning, can be done once a year.

Maybe you have a defective thermostat. Does your aircon compressor shut off when it reached the desired temperature?

Also when you had the AC cleaned, did they flush the system with nitro?

Did you mean, mahina ang air na lumalabas OR mahina yun lamig na lumalabas?

mahina ang air na lumabas, yung lamig ok2 lang pero yung blowing power nawawala due to being "clogged" with dirt.

*non-vtec - im no longer using the original thermostat since it got busted, im using a replacement thermostat, or what they call "mechanical" - not really sure of the term, pero from what i hear, it trips off when it reaches desired temp. Yep, they flushed it with nitro.

There you go. That's the likely culprit. If the thermostat is not matched, installed properly, or defective, it may not shut off the compressor when it should. This will cause excessive ice buildup.

Running the Air Conditioning System of your vehicle for about 10 minutes once a week will maintain the gas pressure. It is a good practice to keep cleaning your vehicle's AC Unit after regular intervals. This will ensure the long life of the AC System. Air Conditioning Katy provides cleaning and maintenance services for air conditioning systems.

Frequent AC Cleaning - potential issue?
