which brings me to the question... why shift from clutched- to clutchless..? what advantage does clutchless offer?

supposedly to prevent the thunk when clutch engages and prevent the sudden loss of power. but it's not an issue on modern engines. it's not even an issue even on "weak" 1.3L vios or cities

Not sure sir, but atleast dalawa na kilala ko nasiraan on their low mileage clutchless altises.

Same concept why sikat na sikat ngaun ang "inverter" type ACU. To gain a little effiency by just using right pressures to produce desired cooling temp.

2nd na lang ung refinement, not hearing/feeling tick sound of clutch engagement.

Most of the clutch-less a/c compressor are that of variable displacement. The shaft turns everytime the engine runs, it operates by varying the angle of the swash plate to vary the piston/s movement or stroke which in turn vary the displacement to match the cooling load and cooling request. This was supposedly done to reduce the inertia of the compressor specially those cars with very small displacement engines and to get better fuel economy. These compressors are operated by the PCM.

Bukas magpapatingin nanaman ako ng a/c ng monty naman kay ceejay's pagkatapos ng kotse namin last month. Medyo hilaw na din ang lamig napansin ko. Hopefully cleaning lang ang katapat 😓

Jodski: Nabaklas namin bro. Iyong replacement na motor pumapatak na P 1.9k. I opted to buy the oem motor w/c set me back P3.7k. At least siguro naman mas tatagal iyon kesa dun sa replacement
