July 22nd, 2012 11:48 AM #4You need to understand. Given the litany of smaller shops Evercool marginally sets a better standard for manufacturing radiators in the domestic market. They are the last manufacturer standing. So pretty much if your standard radiator is available in their catalog go for it and bear with the 6 month warranty.
The technical aptitude behind their marketing machinery, however, requires a bit of re-education.
Most firms like Radphil, Motorco, and Pearce have either gone under or their heirs have moved on due to the lack of interest in the industry.
Most radiator "fabricators" are small chop shops that buy larger pre-made cores or simply convert radiators. So due caution is important because none, and I say this generally, none of these people understand the necessary quality testing systems a radiator must go through let alone check for the consistency of their raw materials.
Often these shops use recycled solder. Apart from lead being toxic, impurities in the solder can cause cavities that weaken a joint. That is why when you see re-manufactured/re-cored radiators they are often heavily laden with solder build-up to double up for the deficiencies of non-virgin material.
I would steer clear of any radiator shop that stands by the notion of putting a brass tank atop an aluminum radiator core. They really do not know what they are doing.
And beware of cheap. Laging masmahal ang magpa-overhaul ng makina.
Thing is kenet_3, what do you need modified? Baka cleaning lang iyan ok na.
Choice I would have made as well.
