just saw an infomercial regarding this product. it's a solar-powered turbine fan that you clip to your window when your car is parked under the sun. it claims to move hot air to lower the temp in your cabin as it is parked.

has anyone used this and is it effective?

technically, it's true, anytime there's flowing air, the cabin temp is slightly reduced...

reduced enough to be comfortable? hardly with such a small fan hehe...

you'd be better off opening all doors and turn your fan blower to max for 30 secs than using that puny fan.

marketing..kaya siguro maliit yun para sa 1 each side!

alam ko 500-1500 yun, can remember,e....

ilan beses ko nakita yan, pansin ko, prob nyan, aalisin mo din sa rain days, kasi technically di sealed ang windows.. mas ok pa (for me) mag window visors nalang...

Yep kulang yan to cool the car. Had one about 10yrs ago. I think I bought it at Concord at that time. It'll need a good amount of sunlight to turn the fan at its highest speed. Would have difficulty running on cloudy days and when it's facing away from the sun.

tagal na nito, we had this in our car before way back 97 pa well it doesnt work. 12nn ang pinakamalakas na sunlight but then yung solar panel niya is angled the same as the side windows which is almost perpendicular at the position of hte sun so hindi tinatamaan ng direct sunlight. unless they've changed teh design and yung solar panel nasa roof na ng car mu

matagal na nga ang ganyang product. nagkaroon na ako dati ng ganyan sa 91 corolla namin, regalo pa. wala ring kwenta kasi di naman nakakapasok ang air galing sa labas so ang talagang umiikot lang ay yung air sa loob ng sasakyan so hindi bababa ang temperature nyan. it would be better to put up those windshield sun screen sa harap and likod ng kotse. or find a shade to park under.

Horsepower: I think Mazda came up with that in their previous jap models back in mid 90's pa with the high-end Mazda Millenia.

Unfortunately, the Audi Solar sunroof worked only to a certain degree (maybe 1 or 2 degrees?)

Best way to keep your car cool? Carry a tent in the trunk and erect it over your car every time you park...

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Although I didn't buy one, I was able to play with one for a while. The design theory is fine but when applied to the real world, it falls short.

The solar panels do not provide enough power to turn the fan fast enough to vent enough hot air to maintain interior temperature. Another problem is the angle of the window is too steep so at around noon time, the solar panels aren't operating anywhere near their efficient levels. Next is most cars have tints which cut down on the amount of light that gets to the solar panels.

Comparing a car with this gadget versus without, I tried placing a thermometer on the center console to measure the interior temp during noontime (lunch break at the company I worked for at the time). My car was parked at the open lot beside the office building. This was done in two consecutive days during summer. The temp was the same with and without the gadget. End of experiment.

The gadget would have a greater chance of working IF:
-the solar panel was bigger to provide more power.
-the solar panel was a separate unit from the blower so you can optimize the location and angle.
-the car has an open vent somewhere else to offset the exhausted hot air. (setting the A/C fresh-air vent open would be enough).

Malabo. Just moving the air around wont cool it. Ang aparent cooling na nadarama sa fan eh actually nageepavorate na pawis natin.

Well, it could be used as just that, a fan, if u want to conserve gas w/ no choice to park on direct sunlight. Engine turned off and all windows open.
