kahit anong brand ba e pwede iconvert from R12 to R134? i inquired at a denso-certified shop kasi, ang advise sa akin is to buy a Denso(17-18k) to replace my stock Sanden compressor. Duda ko kasi baka dahil lang sa Denso certification nila kaya un ang naiadvise sa akin.

Pero kung di nga pwede, another route i was thinking of was to buy a surplus Denso compressor and have it overhauled if needed. bale ung high pressure hose and drier na lang ang papalitan.

question is, magkano ba ung surplus compressor? baka naman surplus compressor + overhaul would almost be as expensive as buying a new one

    badkuk,
nakausap ko si mang mario diyan.

sabi niya any R12 compressor can be converted to R134 just by replacement of the expansion valve (!)

    total damage 2k lang yata.

he also claims (although i doubt) na hindi daw appreciably nababawasan yung cooling capacity pag naka R134 na.

pero of course papalitan pa ng drier and high pressure hose, right?

hmmm, there was a recent article on tech and tuner about this. parang walang nabanggit about replacing the expansion valve -- basta irerepair daw and then itetest for leaks. teka, hiramin ko uli this Monday

    medyo OT,
meron na ba nag try sa inyo mag register ng car na r12 pa rin ang coolant? how does lto test it? o based lng sa year/model ang inspection nila.
kc kng di rin nila inspect, pwede ko muna i-delay conversion ko...

need to replace the compressor oil, filter and expansion valve to be able to convert refrigerants.. it will work, but it will severly affect the life expectancy of your old compressor since an R12 compressor differs in specs with a 134a compressor....

i have registered my car, they don't test it... or maybe i was just lucky, besides if they do, i would just opt to have it registered "without appearance" and pay a little extra na lang.... but its just me.

afaik, 2012 pa daw impose yun r134a to all year model. right now 2000 up lang ang required na r134a. mayrun naba dito nag pa convert na walang problem? yun samurai ko binalik ko sa r12 kasi dami problem nun pina convert ko. nasira shaft seal and always may leak. back to r12 now and no problem na. also mas malamig ang r12 kaysa r134a environment friendly nga lang siya.

you're probably right, it's the drier, not the expansion valve. i must've been confused. pero yung price, ganun na nga. of course papalitan yung oil and refrigerant. wala siyang sinabi about changing the high pressure hoses though.

and usually flared lang ang r12 system. yun 134 naka o-rings which i think is more leak proof.
