Hi, I'm having a problem with the AC of my CRV 2003 M/T. The air is not cooling anymore. At one instance, I switched on the fan and the cooling levels and then I checked if the fan (the one on the left when facing the front of the engine from outside) on my engine is rotating. However, I found out that it's not rotating after traveling for 15 minutes. Usually I hear a ticking sound when I switch on the cooling dial but now it's no longer doing that.

I tried to drive again but this time the AC was functioning, the air was cool. So I checked again the fan on my engine and I video-recorded it just to narrate it better. See video here: CRV 2003 MT AC/Fan Testing - YouTube

The fan is rotating but after some time, it stops completely. And then, it starts all over again and stops completely (in cycles).

    Now, here are my questions:

    1. Is that normal? The fan rotates, stops completely, and then starts again and stops in cycles?
    2. Is there a recommended/ideal way of switching on the ACs?
    3. Where is the best shop to repair this? I've been seeing mentions of "Mang Mario" on this thread.
    4. What specifically could possibly be the problem with my AC?
    5. How long does it usually take to get it repaired and how much would it take?

    Thanks!

not an expert, but based sa explanation mo normal operation ang a/c mo pero parang need na niya ng freon or general cleaning. kelan pa ba yung last cleaning niya? better ma-check yan ng a/c specialist or dalin mo kay "Joey" Joey Aircon Shop sa Pasig, a trusted a/c specialist

minsan tinotopak siya. nung morning hindi umandar ang A/C (parang nakafan lang siya). nung dadalhin ko na to some shop, umandar bigla. malamig naman. :D so what could be the problem? madumi lang?

    Now, here are some observations:

    1) Normal lang ba na sabay yung 2 fans na patay-sindi if the A/C is switched on? Or dapat ba umaandar pa rin yung radiator fan kahit hindi ako nakaaircon?

    2) I tried turning the fan to level 2, hindi nagrorotate both fans. I tried switching on the A/C knob, and then yung radiator fan lang ang umandar. Is this normal?

    3) There's a tube re: A/C na usually nagmomoist diba?

    4) Kapag naka-fan ako and then I switch on the A/C, hindi siya malamig, mainit siya.

    Thanks.

sa madaling salita ang A/C ng CRV mo hindi nalamig, pa check mo kung my freon kung my freon malamang di nag engage ang compressor pag di nag engage ang compressor di rin iikot ang condenser fan motor check mo my Fuse yan, pag laging nasisira ang fuse something wrong either fan motor or clutch ng compressor, pag walang freon my leak lang sana, 10years na pala yan malamang papalitin na yan ng compressor....

thanks for your response. natry ko na dalhin sa 2 shop (yung isa dun kay mang mario) - ang findings nila ay something with the fusebox. natry na kasi nila itest yung mga pos-neg nodes (yung gagamit ka ng wires and may bulb to test connections) and okay naman yung sa ilalim ng makina at fuse dun sa loob (sa baba ng steering wheel). ang recommendations nung 2 shop: replace fusebox daw. sa casa naman, yun na lang rin ang hindi pa nila sure kasi okay naman ang compressor, may freon naman, okay lahat except for the fusebox part.

plug and play lang naman yun diba? so dapat mabilis lang ikabit?

    thanks ulit.

Thanks for all the replies! I got my unit back. Confirmed - they replaced the fusebox for an estimated cost of PhP 11k. All other parts were working just fine. Took me around 4-5 days to get it back from the casa.

Good for you Sir.

However, recently, I brought it to the casa for a repair that is non-AC related. Casa told me na they flushed some stuff/dirt daw from the AC (kasi may naipon na daw na maraming dumi?).

Pagkabalik nung car from the repair, it seemed that the fan was weak and the AC was okay. After sometime, humihina yung fan although okay pa rin naman yung lamig. Nagtry ako lakasan yung fan (kasi mainit nga yung weather before) para lang lumamig tapos after sometime, yung AC naman yung humihina.

Ang problem ngayon naman, wala nang lamig from the AC (wala yung usual "activating sound") tapos yung fan naman mas malakas as compared to before pero mainit nga lang (kasi wala nang AC).

I contacted the Casa and they're recommending na for general cleaning lang daw yun (which costs 10k).

What do you think is the problem again here? May nakita akong Youtube video: 22 - 28 Honda CRV Air condition Problems - Recall for AC Clutch - ( Service Advisory Notice ) - YouTube pero hindi ko alam kung legit or valid pa yung recall dito sa Pinas.

Can it be the fusebox again? Saang shop kaya na reliable pwedeng ipacheck/clean/repair? I read the recent posts/replies re: Mang Mario so meron pa kayang mga possible alternatives sa shop niya?

    Thanks in advance!

If you're in the metro I highly recommend Ceejay's in Las Pinas City. Specialty talaga nila ang car AC. I just had mine repaired last Fri and couldn't be more happy. Ayos pa sa customer service. Look them up sa FB.

P.S. they offer a discount when you mention you're a member at the Tsikot forum.

Thanks. Luckily, the expansion valve and receiver drier just needs to be replaced. Cheaper as compared to having the compressor replaced. Malamig na talaga yung AC, as in super lamig na parang bago. However, I'm getting water leaks though under the compartment of the passenger side na for rechecking ulit.

Thanks, it's just a matter of redirecting the line outwards.

May pinapalinis ba dapat regularly or may kailangan irefill?

    Thanks
