hi guys.. i have a 98 honda civic lxi(UNLEADED)..last saturday my car overheated so I had the ff done on the car the days following the incident :

    from sunday to tuesday
    -------------------------
    1. radiator overhaul
    2. thermostat was removed
    3. replaced one old hose clamp
    4. replaced radiator cap (may kaso ba kung ang nabili ko e 0.9 instead of what it used before which was 1.1)
    5. using new engine coolant
    6. replaced water pump

desptie of all of these measures, parang hindi pa din nasosolve ung problem(atleast im not satisfied)..usually ung temp gauge ko is a little below the half way mark..pero ngayon it rises to the halfway mark and sometimes goes even above it...when i was driving to work this morning, i stopped over at a gas station and had the gas boy fill the radiator with water because it was a little above the halfway mark(mejo paranoid na ko..hehe)..after that bumaba ung temp..pero just as i got to the office, there it goes again...

you guys have anymore suggestions on what might the problem be or what other options i can try out?

    thanks!!

Madami causes ng overheat, e.g. radiator na barado or may butas, sirang water pump, butas na hoses, etc.

Check mo yung water pump. Dun sa Accord ko dati, one reason kung bakit medyo mataas yung temp gauge is that the blades of the water pump were corroded with rust, kaya hindi nakakikot ng husto yung tubig.

have you tried replacing the thermoswitch? its only 300 bucks yata sa casa. the thermoswitch controls the fans that cool the water in the radiator. maliit na plastic part thingy yun nakasaksak sa engine sa ilalim ng distributor.

i'd also return the thermostat. buy orig na lang mura lang yun. wag mo i-recta yung radiator fan. hindi sya designed for that. masunog agad yung fan motor mo.

everything else you've covered na. other things i can think of are weak fans (dalawa yun pag patay yung isa for long at naka a/c ka overheat) and vapor (air) lock. sa umaga try mo top up yung coolant before starting it. keep doing it until lagi na sya puno at hindi nagbabawas.

Hehehe, oo nga, di kasi ako nagbabasa ng mabuti eh.

How about the bypass hose? (Ito yung maliit na hose sa likod ng makina). Baka dun sumisirit yung tubig.

meron sa auto supply pero i suggest yung nasa casa. oem may be more reliable. thermostat too. yung thermoswitch kasi nacocorrode din over time. pag natunaw na yung contacts nya due to rust mawawala yung controller ng fan, pirmi na lang naka off yun kahit mainit na yung tubig.

i realized this nung nagooverheat ako pag nakahinto pero pag tumakbo lalo na pag mabilis at hatinggabi, hindi naman. hindi na pala umiikot automatically yung fan.

Original Honda thermostat switch cost around 1,300 php at Honda casas. Your best bet would be Honda Cars Quezon Avenue.

thermoswitch nga is your problem ... mga 1000 ang orig i sell in my store ...

pero kung napalitan mo na ito ang ganun pa rin ... top overhaul na talaga ... kasi almost lahat na palitan mo na ... ibigsabihin may singaw yung fan mo

pero alam mo if you remove the thermostat ... dapat ndi na overheat yan kasi direcho direcho na yung fan mo eh ...
