The term "magic" is usually applied to the silver ones (i.e. 3M Magic). Characteristics of this type is that its light level penetration adjusts somewhat from day to night wherein it's easier to see the outside at night but when the film is hit directly by light during the day, it reflects light more. I usually use 3M Magic Medium or neutral upfront, on the windshield.

interesting question. ang magic tint kasi is based on the polarized film (remember the ray-bans?) na kapag na-arawan nag-iiba yung kulay-thus magic. well, ok ito, kasi pag ma-araw, block nya yung harmful uv-rays at saka yung init, plus privacy na rin. sa gabi naman, medyo light yung tint, minimal lang. parang wala pero meron.

Thanks guys. So lumalabas na itong tint na to eh parang salamin during the day.

I recently had an accident and kailangan ko ulit lagyan ng tint yung sasakyan.

    TIA!

compared to the traditional dark tints... mas ok nga. kaso... compared to clear tints (or having no tints) - sobrang malayo pa rin.

For me, the 3M magic tint is better than having a traditional dark tint since the former allows you more visibility at night. Of course, for night driving, nothing beats having no tint at all on the front windshield.

    back to topic,
super dark tints, di advisable sa gabi. kung walang light source ang dadaanan mo , you're virtually running blind. kahit yung light silver tint, nababawasan din visibility at night. Yung front windshield ko, full tint yun, nung bago pa lang yun, kala ko minsan patay headlight ko pag naka low beam ako, yun pala, bawas lang yung intensity ng ilaw because of the tint. 3M medium dark mas ok.

3M Medium Magic tint din pinakabit ko. I would have wanted a darker 3M tint, but the wife insisted on the same tint as their 1999 Adventure. Turns out, mas ok pa pala yung Medium Magic, especially for night driving.

I wouldn't be so sure. Sa dami ng mga basta na lang nagha-high beam sa daan pag gabi, baka mas malala pa yung eyestrain ko if not for my windshield tint.

How about other brands? Someone posted in another thread that Solar Gard V-Kool is the most expensive and the best deflector of UV rays? Is this true?

AFAIK, 3M Magic tint is comparable to SolarGard Quantum Tint. Parang one-way mirror nga kapag may araw at light tint sa gabi. (installed on my previous civic)

May SolarGard brand ba ang V-Kool? Ang pinaka the best the heat deflector ng SolardGard is the Quantum film.

HP Quantum 50% tint is 94% UV Protection. Now, I just had my tint last saturday using the 8-month old technology (daw!) called FormulaOne Pinnacle. Pinnacle series has 99.5% UV Protection at 50% tint. Advisable sa mga may electronics sa loob ng cars especially to those radio antenna embedded to rear glass.

    Maximum ultraviolet protection
No hindrance to vehicle electronic systems
Will not interfere with radio frequencies
Maximum heat rjection in a non-metallized film

The film that is virtually invisible for the driver who wants UV protection without a tinted appearance. Offering the highest level of protection from UV A and B rays at 99.9%. UV Shield is the only automotive window film recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation.

UV Shield is effective on clear or factory tinted glass to improve occupant protection from UV rays.

You have a point there.

Bottom line, I guess, would be to find the best balance of low-light visibility and ability to reduce incoming glare that the individual driver is comfortable with.

I always get confused with Solar Gard and Sun Gard (Francine Prieto is the endorser of this)? AFAIK, the Sun Gard is more inexpensive than 3M. And in another thread Solar Gard is the most expensive daw?

Also if Solar Gard does not have V-Kool, then what is V-Kool? Another brand?

    thanks

hmmm, I dont see the Dark Magic or Magic Dark on SolarGard.com site.

Iba pa lang company ang V-Kool

Originally developed for the US space and military program, and now being adapted for commercial use, V-KOOLŪ is a transparent, infra-red reflective polyester film which can be bonded to glass surfaces. The polyester is coated on one side with multi-layers of microscopic metal particles, and a pressure sensitive adhesive on the underside
Parang its the best film out there from what the quote says.
