Tranny swap on vw golf?

i have an 88 golf mk2 1.6 with an a/t on it.. Gusto ko iconvert to m/t for my project's 1st step before i upgrade the engine in the future. May nakagawa na ba dito sa inyo? Share inputs if you have. Shop? Parts? Etc... thanks tsikots!

IMO just save the MT swap to when you're actually going to do your engine mods.

interesting... in other forums they suggest for the tranny muna since it will make a huge difference on response, better potential, fun factor. any explanations why both and/or engine 1st? btw, my options for engine mods are FI or engine swap maybe VAG 1.8T from a B5.
