Tsikot.Ph Beta - Cars Reviews and Ratings Site

Tsikot.com will soon be launching another site for the Filipino Car Lover, Enthusiast, Finder and Future Owner. This is an entirely new script that will enable members to review and rate cars, dealers and auto shops.

This site is still under beta and will soon be launching soon (end December). As of now, features include reviewing and rating - members can upload reviews of their favorite cars or participate in rating (rave or rant) other cars.

Soon, there will be a comparison feature - where specs and features of 2 or 3 cars will be placed side-by-side to aid the (confused) car buyer on deciding which vehicle is best for his/her needs.

i have uploaded some test car reviews and specs gathered from the vehicles' manufacturers' websites. i also test-rated them to the best of my abilities. of course, i don't claim to be an expert in rating cars, but just rated to test the feature.

All reviews submitted will be moderated prior to publication.

We are also inviting active tsikoteers if they can volunteer to be the site's reviewers or editors. Cars, Dealers and Shops reviewed by editors will be indicated as such, with separate Editors' Ratings.

Please post comments, suggestions and inputs here or the forums over there. Feel free to register over at tsikot.ph and help us beta-test our review and rating site.

this site will be a more organized resource for Pinoys who are looking for information while deciding on which cars/vehicles will be best for them. Rather than spend a lot of time browsing through the forums, through countless threads and posts, hopefully this review and rating site for cars, dealers and auto shops will be an easier way to find valuable information.

It is hoped that trustworthy tsikoteers will sign up as editors and reviewers to give credible reviews and ratings on cars, dealers and auto shops.

Let's just look at tsikot.ph as a site that will empower car consumers by giving them information to make the best choice!

little critique here...

1. parang masyadong malaki ang google ads, maybe you can switch it to the right side below the featured offers. I know this is additional revenue for you guys, but by putting google ads on the top part of the page, its like your promoting google ads instead of the content itself.

2. Medyo mabagal mag load (for me atleast, I'm using dialup), maybe you can turn off the other features of joomla.

3. Maybe a customized layout that fits the tsikot personality, time permitting ofcourse.

Aside from that it looks good...

i really, really like the layout and color scheme. very classy and pleasing to the eye. kudos.

like ILD, i think the google ads are a bit obtrusive. i think the main articles should be at 'eye level' upon loading and not ads for penis enlargements

i really, really, really hope that the content gets integrated into the main tsikot site once it graduates from beta mode. your main asset is the traffic and opinions generated by your members and it would be a big mistake imho if you divided their attention between two sites. i particularly don't see the need for two separate forums (fora?).

i would be open to posting reviews of the cars i own/have owned/rented, if i have time. i think it's very important that the people reviewing the cars have the right experience with them (sitting in them at the dealership doesn't count!) - maybe you could have different categories of reviews based on experience: like Owner's Long-term Review, Test, and Quick Drive.

i also suggest that you ask for some standard information from all your reviewers...maybe they have to use a checklist that asks them to review some standard things like acceleration, handling, ride, interior room, cargo space, features, etc. this way you'll have reviews that you can make appropriate comparisons with.

Aside from that it looks good...

i do agree... but these sponsored links will eventually assure the self-sustainability of the site. anyway, i converted the big rectangle to a leaderboard on top ... hopefully less obstrusive.

the cms script loads slowly during the first few browsing sessions, but once the scripts and libraries are loaded in your computer's cache, hopefully it will load faster.

soon, various templates with different colors will be available.

the site will be separate from tsikot.yehey.com for it is really a different site with a different purpose. The site's mission is to provide car buyers and finders a quick, easy to use and fast resource of info regarding cars, dealers and shops. This will help these visitors because rather than them spend much time browsing through forums, threads and posts, they can just use that site's search feature to bring them to the specific reviews. And also, the great rating and review (comment) feature hopefully will consolidate the community members' ratings of the different cars, dealers and auto shops to be of help to these visitors and members.

Don't worry, once this graduates from beta, the user database of tsikot.yehey.com and tsikot.ph will be integrated that signing up or being a member of tsikot.yehey.com, will automatically make him/her a member of tsikot.ph. Or all members of this site can already sign-in at tsikot.ph using the same username and password. This will only be available after the full launching of tsikot.ph

The forums over there at tsikot.ph will only be for site feedbacks, bug reports and feature requests. The main discussion forum for tsikoteers will still be here. So there will be no overlapping or duplication. Better still, if there are discussions here at tsikot regarding a particular item being reviewd there at tsikot.ph, the thread/s will be linked from there.

These are awesome suggestions, M54. I will be looking at the possibility of having short/quick reviews (Quickies) for ordinary members. I will be setting up a different section/category for this so that the Long/Comprehensive Reviews will be the domain of the site's reviewers and editors!

am looking for review of cars...sana as car owner we could provide feedback/ reviews of models of cars that we have driven...para maging guide for those buying pre owned (wag daw second hand) cars...
