"Following their controversial "Pilipinas, Kay Ganda" campaign, the Department of Tourism (DOT) has announced the new domestic campaign called "Pilipinas, Tara Na!" reports Yahoo Philippines.

DOT Secretary Alberto Lim said the campaign is meant to encourage Filipinos to travel within the Philippines rather than visit other countries. "We want to put a little more emphasis on domestic (travel) because it's the backbone of tourism. If you go to any hotel, they'll say 30 percent of the rooms are for foreign visitors and 50 percent are for domestic (ones).

Lim told Yahoo Philippines that people recognize the new slogan because it was derived from the slogan "Tara Na, Biyahe Tayo." Lim said, "We will resurrect the (old campaign) song. We're going to play it again with a new cast maybe a little differently." He added that he is sure that "there will be no objections" to the new campaign."

hindi ko pa rin talaga gets ano bang meron at dapat palitan ung wow e maganda naman na un. mapapalusot ko to just because ang palusot nila is to promote domestic travel kaya tagalog (at dahil hindi kasing bantot pakinggan ng Pilipinas kay Ganda), although kahit pa anong understandable language yan pag walang extrang pera ang mga tao hindi pa rin nila talaga magagawa na mamasyal sa bansa. It's unfortunate that we learn in school all about our natural resources like the coral reefs and chocolate hills but not all of us will ever have a chance to appreciate them in person simply because most of us can't spare a lot of money for travel.
    natin.

Parang may mali ata dito. Many of our neighbours rely on FOREIGN tourist because of the $$$ money they bring in. Thailand brought in 11 million tourists in what they considered a bad year for them in 2010. Vietnam got 4.3 million tourist arrivals. Philippines was "happy" that 3.5 million visited the country last year. I'd be scratching my head why more tourist preffered Vietnam over us. Instead of encouraging more foreigners to visit, they'd rather save money and stick to the local tourist market.

Tourist arrivals in Philippines reach all time high in 2010+
    Jan 28 05:50 AM US/Eastern

MANILA, Jan. 28 (AP) - (Kyodo)—Tourist arrivals in the Philippines last year reached an all-time high despite the hostage-taking of Hong Kong tourists, eight of whom were killed, in Manila last August, according to figures released by the country's Department of Tourism.
Arrivals in 2010 totaled 3.52 million, surpassing the government's initial target of 3.3 million, according to figures posted on the department's website Friday.

South Korea topped the list with 740,622 arrivals, followed by the United States with 600,165, Japan with 358,744, China 187,446, Australia 147,469, Taiwan 142,455, Hong Kong 133,746 and Singapore 121,083, Canada 106,345 and Britain 96,925.

Iba rin yung magiging campaign for International tourists.

    Sarap lang talaga mag reklamo

Why can't they make a slogan in English considering that tourism campaigns are supposed to mainly entice foreigners?

Ano yan, another one of those stupid Pinoy pride things that force you to use Filipino more in exchange for the dumbing down of our English proficiency, which is probably the single best advantage we have against other Asians in terms of labor and hospitality?

    Morons.

Have you read the full article? They made it clear that this program is intended for DOMESTIC Tourism... and they will come up soon with a different program for International Tourism to replace that PKG (though from what i heard during the interview with Lim, WOW Phils is still being considered).

Tama si Oliver, sarap lang talaga mag-reklamo.

Ok, then what's the point in making a separate tourism program for domestic and international people?

Because people do not understand English?

    --

Yes, sarap magreklamo. Because as it's shown many times, ang daming amateaur sa gobyerno na di nag-iisip bago ilabas sa publiko.

Nothing wrong naman yung DOMESTIC campaign since lumakas ang local tourism. Di lang nila inacknowledge yung advantage ng looong weekends policy of the previous administration.

Kaso since di sa kanila so kailangang palitan. Typical pinoy mentality.

Pilipinas, Tara Na! (at mangibang bansa!)

+1 on asking the public for consultations... di ba pwede naman pa-contest ng Tourism yan to compose a theme for them?
