ok lang ba? like when you need extra push when overtaking a car? hinde ba masisira if you down shifted from D to D3? considering my A/T car have 5 speed...
I mean if your cruising on the fifth gear than down shifted to D3...'coz I was thinking hinde ko ginagawa sa manual na from 5th gear eh baba ng 3rd gear...
sa A/T car ba when you do that automatic na siya na dadaanan muna ng 4th gear? or diretso siya kaagad sa 3rd gear?
if you drop the gear from 5th to 3rd gear..it wouldnt go to 4th gear first.
my question is why do you need to manually drop the gear when overtaking?just floor the gas pedal and the trans will automatically drop down in gear.
will it drop 2 gears when you floor the gas?that will depend on the speed youre at and how the gears on the trans are programmed.
best way is to find out how its programmed on downshifts and upshifts * WOT and at what RPM.
example...
here is how my gears are programmed(auto trans with 4 speed)
*WOT
1st to 2nd gear * 5500RPM-40MPH
2nd to 3rd gear * 5500RPM-80mph
3rd to 4th gear * 5000RPM-120mph
downshift points
45MPH and under downshifts to 1st gear
85MPH and under downshifts to 2nd gear
125MPH and under downshifts to 3rd gear
Floor the gas pedal and it should automatically downshift.
Read the vehicle manual, because typically, it should state the maximum speed tolerated when you downshift (change A/T position), else it could damage your engine/tranny....
GA: Everytime you floor the gas, you trigger a switch at the base of the pedal (well, older cars really has a switch, newer ones may have a sensor) and that'll downshift to a proper gear for increased acceleration, it can downshift two gears or one, depending on your current speed.
