wag ka mag-base sa F&F. madami BS dun sa movie. here's what google said 'bout double-clutching ...
by Jeff Krause
Double-clutching is the proper way to downshift at speed without placing excessive wear on the transmission's synchronizers. This allows you to select a much lower gear without the tell-tale lurch you normally get when the clutch is let out after downshifting.
When downshifting my BMW M5 from 4th gear to 2nd at 50 mph, I need to raise the engine speed from 2200 rpm to 5000. To prevent excessive synchroniser wear, the clutch is depressed and the shifter is moved to neutral. The clutch is then released, and the gas is depressed to bring the engine speed up to where it needs to be for the lower gear. The clutch is then depressed again and the shift lever moved into the lower gear. When the clutch is released the second time, the engine is already turning the proper speed . While this sounds complicated, it's easier done than said, and only takes about a second.

the phrase used in that movie was wrong...double clutching in a drag race?!
This is why this movie was a big joke in the US of A. Double clutching is for down-shifting. Now, why would you wanna down-shift on a drag race?!

Double-Clutching 101
Granny shifting, is simply shifting too slow and makes the engine bog down.
Granny= grandmother or father, lolo or lola.
Here is a GREAT link on Everything you ever wanted to know about Double-clutching. (and why you don't have to know it)

If you really need to downshift from 5th to 3rd at high speed, simply rev-match. Rev-match is the same explanation of double-clutching. I do rev-match often when exiting or entering a turn, para easier to keep the speed up and less tranny stress.
edit: same link pala ng kay ronin yung na post kong una..heheLast edited by Karding; December 22nd, 2003 at 10:28 AM.

i agree the fast n the furious movie is full of BS, pero i know there really is a double clutching in drag racing, lalo na sa illegal style. parang cheat technique para mas may sipa pag nag shift gear.
cguro the "double clutching" used in drag should have had gotten a different name, hehe
yung need for speed underground nga ginaya sobra yung drag race ng F&F
someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
SC (temporarily) stops NCAP
