House members have questioned the use of the protocol No. "8" plate by the
son-in-law of Transportation and Communications Assistant Secretary and Land Transportation Office (LTO) chief Alberto Suansing and also by a
Korean national in a separate case.
....Plaza found it quite ironic that while Suansing has been making so much fuss about the so-called "misuse" of the number "8" plate, his son-in-law, who is not an elected member of Congress, is himself using the controversial protocol plate.
...On the other hand, Manila Rep. Ma. Zenaida Angping came forward to inform the panel that her daughter's neighbor, a Korean national, is reportedly using a vehicle with a number "8" license plate which he bought from the LTO.
...During the hearing, Suansing made a blanket denial that he ever issued any media statement on the alleged abuse by members of the House of Representatives of the usage of the number "8" plates. He also denied statements attributed to him that congressmen are selling their "8" plates for P200,000.
