    4. Another car can fit between us

As much as possible, number 3 to give space for maneuvering.

This is what instructors teach at driving schools for exactly the same reason.

    ---

As for the danger of rear-ends at full stops, the advice is to pull your handbrake and put your car in first gear until another car makes a full stop behind yours.

it depends on the traffic situation.
normally, i cannot see the bumper anymore. pero pag nasa likod ako ng truck or malaking sasakyan, i usually leave some space wherein kita ko bumper nila.

When I am travelling I usually follow the three second rule. Pero kung bumper to bumper traffic as near as my car will allow me.

I always still see the bumper everytime. Pero kung tinopak ako at may sumusubok sumingit sakin very close talaga, siguro walang tao na makakasiksik sa gitna ng kotse ko at nang nasa harap ko...

Usually I let enough space between me and the car infront to see the bottom of his rear tires. This gives me enough space to maneuver my car around his car if the need arises.

normally as long as i can see his rear wheels lalo't inclined. pero kung pitpitan ang takbo eh bumper to bumper na... nagpapasingit din ako wag lang siya pabigla-bigla... napaghahalatang kasing suwapang pag parang bulate eh... ayaw ko ng ganun

I thick the proper title for this thread would be 'How close do you get from the vehicle in front you'

First, for me, it depends what vehicle I'm driving and second it depends on the braking habit of the car in front of me. This is during traffic.

I normally put some daylight between us if I'm fully loaded as braking precaution.

Ako between the 2nd and the 3rd eh. Depende kung gaano ka steep ang incline , gaano ka traffic, etc. Di na umaatras ng super layo eh. One time may incline na traffic at yung sa tingin ko ay di masyado marunong mag drive ng MT binigyan ko ng 1 car length kaso it just gave her more momentum to do more damage to my car!

I crawl up to the car in front of me until I can see his/her bumper. When uphill, I give a little more breathing room.

yung kita ko pa yung rear wheels. pero kahit gitgitan, at the very least gusto ko kita ko pa yung bumper.

advantage din ito sa bumper to bumper traffic. kasi pag umandar na yung nasa harap, you have more room to floor the accelerator. kesa pag nakadikit ka na talaga, dapat dahan-dahan lang at baka matamaan mo yung nasa harap.

    Same reasoning here.

I would leave one entire car length, but that irritates the driver behind you, since it allows people to cut in line.

I leave enough space so that I have maneuvering room, and more importantly, room to accelerate and punch out into the next lane, should the need arise... if the guy in front, for example, is stopping to turn or picking up passengers.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

How near are you from the vehicle before you?
