Just renewed my driver's license 2 months ago, and still no idea when I'm going to have my license card. Will other countries accept the license OR issued by LTO as proof of driver's license?

Most likely not. It's safer to assume that their law enforcement have no idea on the Philippine situation regarding licenses.

What you could try is getting an International Driving Permit from the Automotive Association of the Philippines (AAP).

When my cousin (with his family) went to the states a few months back, he was not allowed by the rent a car company to drive (because he had no plastic id). So his wife was the one who drove.

Maybe if you can show LTO that you are scheduled to leave & would need the id, they can make an exception & expedite printing the card.

No, you can't use the OR.

I think you also need the plastic ID if applying for IDP at AAP, but not sure though. Try to call and confirm before going.

    no.

In my limited experience,- International Driver's License - they will still ask you for the official Philippine Driver's License....

At least for those wanting to drive temporarily in a foreign country....

Sorry bro.yebo - the answer is no....

    n.p. master cvt.

pero in my case kasi e yung nga lto dl ang hinanap nung nag rent ako ng car sa l.a. ni hindi man lang tinignan yung intl dl na prinesenta ko. second time nung naaksidente ako sa illinois di rin tinignan yung intl dl, ang hinanap e yung lto dl ko at passport at imigration form I.94 (to see na wala pa ako 3 months which the hiway patrol said is the limit for getting a US dl.) yung intl dl e hindi man lang tinignan, binalik agad sa akin.

Just got rejected 2 weeks ago in Europe.

In the words of the rental guy, the paper is only valid in the Philippines. They need the license card

Drove a rental last May in Southern France. Same case as you sir. Just renewed my license, so no plastic ID card yet. I first gave my AAP card when asked for my DL but the rental person insisted on my actual Philippine DL so I gave mine. I was ready to explain about the expiration date and have the OR ready to back it up but the lady didn’t make an issue about it. I used Avis and reserved the car online (with free cancellation) here in PH before the trip.

Yung AAP IDL, its only a translation of the PH DL. Hindi siya valid without the PH DL

I suggest you do away with the AAP International Driving Permit. Your LTO licence ID card will suffice if you want to drive out of the country. Some countries can grant you driving privileges for a certain period until you opt to get a drivers license within that country. In the US, the period for which you can use your RP license card varies per state.

Its called International Driving Permit and there's a list on what country you can use this, and you won't be issued this permit unless you have a valid Philippine Driver's License, imho
