Last Wednesday at around 2am, when we were driving back home along Osmena road, one of the policemen asked us to pull over and we were questioned re travelling without plate, and so we showed them our OR/CR and explained that the problem was with LTOs plant and that they weren't able to issue plates for quite some time. He asked for my husband's license while saying that we should have done a temporary plate where the temporary number given printed on it and then told us to wait while he goes to their outpost. From there, I felt that they wanted sumthng, and so I told my hubby not to follow them, and wait in the car since I'm very confident that we have the necessary documents to travel. And when he went back he told my husband "Sir, pakitingin nga, mukhang tinitiketan na kau ng opisyal namin." Before going down, I told my husband not to negotiate with certain amount of money. Several minutes (I guess that was more or less 10mins) later my husband went back with the ticket in his hand, saying that they were insisting that we should have done a temporary plate, I read again the authorization and saw that there was a line which goes something like the authorization when carried by the driver is sufficient enough to comply to RA sumthng which gives us permission to use the car. So he went back and then I decided to follow, the officer was broad and tall and his voice is nakakatakot but then I know we're in the position to argue so I tried talking but then he started talking with his loud voice that we should not travel and pointing to the author. I'm holding "use improvise plate number" and then I said, "Sir, there was no plate written, it just said that use the improvise number, there is nothing written about making an improvised plate number and use it for the meantime", but then he's insisting the same crap. I again said "Pls listen also, it was written here that the authorization when carried by the driver is sufficient enough to travel". But he still continued to repeat what his point was and also said that we can sue him if we want to. And seeing its useless to argue with this officer, we just drove home with the ticket. I told our agent bout this and was demanding them to do something bout this as it was LTOs fault why the plates were still not available, and given that they provided an authorization, some of the officers are not honoring this. But then, according to them, they do not have control over this, but mentioned that this has happened to another car owner and on the same spot, just not sure if same officer.
And so, this problem of ours, has not yet been resolved, but I would really like to pursue contesting this thing.
So guys, ingatz na lang sa mga dumadaan sa checkpoint sa Osmena
