The long-delayed EDSA Rehab (which DOTr Secretary Vince Dizon is calling a "rebuild" is due to start on June 13. Meanwhile, the Guadalupe Bridge is set to also be rehabilitated in the last quarter of the year and is projected to last 17 months.

Here are some of the DOTr's plans to mitigate the impending traffic carmageddon:
Free toll, odd-even scheme to be enforced during Edsa rebuilding

    1. Free toll in Skyway Stage 3
    2. Additional 100 units on Edsa Busway\
    3. Additional trains in Metro Rail Transit Line 3 or MRT-3
    4. Clearing alternate routes of all obstructions
    5. Odd-even scheme in Edsa.

**It is likely that EV's and Hybrids will still be exempted since it was a Republic Act which granted an exemption and it will probably take another RA to repeal (IANAL though).

    i am wondering,
will they dredge and fix the entire length of epifanio delos santos avenue?
kasi, some segments appear still good, in my opinion.
also, in my view, the pavement isn't the problem. the problem is the segmental narrowing of the avenue. kung binili na lang nila yung mga gilid, para hindi na kumikitid-luwag-kitid...
fortunately for me, i very rarely use edsa nowadays.

I don't think this is enough to take the additional bout of commuters that will be affected by the odd-even scheme. Unless they are now planning to deploy the new MRT3 trainsets that is yet to be put into service.

Are they serious about the odd even scheme? We have ZERO ODD CARS! Even if I borrow from my Lola, wala rin ODD kahit isa. This is just stupid. They had this proposal for more than 20 yrs pero it never lasted one month? I take EDSA a lot

Sa amin namin naman, hassle, parehas na odd number na, same coding day pa! Mas ok pa yata sa inyo na even since you can traverse Edsa MWF. So people going to work during weekdays, mas lugi yung mga odd kasi they have to look for alternative ways.

I'm sure the EDSA rehab project has been in the plans for months, years even. Yet, it feels as though the traffic rerouting plans were put together at the last minute, almost as an afterthought.

    Kulang sa detalye.

Like for instance sa odd/even; As this will affect roughly 50% of all cars, will they let cars use the EDSA U-turn slots to cross to the other side?

How about toll-free Skyway 3 access; Which entries/exits are included?

but I assume you have other cars. nangyari din samin yan, yung main car ko 4 at yung coding car ng Daddy ko 4. Pero ok lang since we don't switch cars at home (walang hiraman)

Nope we only have 2 & saktong same number pa. We're from QC, & when we need to got to Makati pag MWF, either mag detour sa side streets or mag Grab.

Eh wala namang off peak ang traffic sa Edsa e hehe. Maybe kaya 24 hrs, para walang excuse na naabutan ka ng traffic sa Edsa pag bawal ka dun.

    Odd/even, number coding? lol
Diba ito ang purpose kaya para sa mga number coding cars.
Wala ring effect yan sa traffic.

Personally, I don't know what's the big deal? Yes, everybody will probably get affected and some will be affected more by this new scheme, eh ano gagawin? Aayusin talaga once and for all ang EDSA talagang mag ng sacrifice lahat.

Wala pa akong nababasa anywhere na naglabas ng alternative or better scheme para mabawasan traffic while EDSA is going through a major repair works.

    Puro naysayers, puro kontra.

Just forced or request the private sectors to implement WFH again kahit 3 days lang.

I don't agree sa postponement, this looks bad on the leadership, matagal na approved yan project, one of the biggest project if not the biggest siguro.

Either papogi lang ito or meron nag lobby for reason we know what

After all the hullabaloo, the press briefings and all the traffic congestion mitigation schemes, the Prez just decided to throw a monkey wrench on the whole thing.

But TBH, I can't blame him. From the get-go, everything was going too fast. The official announcement for the EDSA rehab project only came out in May, and then it was scheduled to begin in less than a month? I've worked on projects that are magnitudes smaller and less complex, yet, it had more elaborate planning and preparation.

And their knee-jerk reaction was evident. Yun lang odd-even, among other congestion mitigation schemes, everyday since the announcement nagbabago yung parameters at ang daming clarifications. It's quite apparent that they're thinking about it as they go along.

I don't claim to be an expert, but at least for a project this big.... 12 months in advance ang notice. Alternate routes are being established. Schedules of when and which segments of EDSA will be worked on. Areas where the odd-even scheme will be implementet (since EDSA will be worked on in segments), etc. Just broad strokes of how things should've been done.

I agree. Take the Guadalupe Bridge rehabilitation. That was announced at least a year before it was to be implemented.

agree. not a fan of delaying the repair... or finding a solution to make the project faster.

do it the proper way once and problem na ng susunod na generation yung next rehabilitation.
