    Here's an article from Philstar.

Kawawa naman tayo na apat ang fiamms and they're also considering other accessories like foglights, any comments guys? I don't particularly like the idea. As long as you're responsible enough in using your accessories like horns and accessory lights, dapat ok lang. Dami dimly lighted streets and bad road conditions kaya kailangan ng good lighting system, right?

    Bayani to silence buses

    By Marvin Sy
    The Philippine Star 05/20/2003

Loud air horns on public utility buses (PUBs) will soon be prohibited in Metro Manila for being a nuisance to the public.

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Bayani Fernando said an ordinance will be submitted to the Metro Manila Council to support the proposal during its next scheduled meeting.

Fernando noted that the MMDA has been receiving many complaints particularly from the residential areas along EDSA about the noise of the horns used by the buses at the intersections.

Several of the complaints came from the exclusive subdivisions in Makati City near EDSA.

Fernando said the buses tend to continuously blow their horns to call for passengers without any regard for the surrounding areas.

In order to immediately address the problem, Fernando proposed that the loud horns be destroyed on the spot.

He pointed out that relying on the vehicle owners to remove the horns would take a long time so immediate destruction would be the better option.

The MMDA chief said even private vehicles would be covered by the possible ban.

The only ones that would be exempted from the ordinance are the trucks that operate outside of Metro Manila. Fernando said loud horns are designed for trucks to use along the highways.

"For city driving, the horns are nothing but a nuisance to other motorists as well as the communities," Fernando said.

MMDA Executive Director for Traffic Angelita Vergel de Dios also suggested that all of other non-essential accessories that affect the motorists should also be removed and banned.

He cited fog lamps, spot lights, white tail lights and muffler extensions used to amplify the sound of the exhaust as examples of accessories that should be prohibited.

De Dios noted that technically, any accessory that does not conform to the specifications of a vehicle should be banned. He also stressed that the dealers should be prevented from selling and installing these accessories.

all white taillights...bawal naman talaga iyan...

But knowing BF, di nya pakikinggan ang IMBOA at tutuloy parin nya yan. hehehe! go go go BF!!! :D

on the issue of fog lamps and driving lights, sabihan natin ang MMDA na ilawan muna nila ng maayos ang mga kalye before they remove lights from our cars.

As for white taillights dapat nga talaga ito tanggalin siguro on the spot hampasin na nila

Yung sa loud horns ng cars, how can they judge if its loud or not?

Banning foglights/driving lights is $!W#%^%*#%!# since we use them properly (poor weather conditions and behind smoek belchers on EDSA.

Tanggaling yung mga horns ng bus? Pati na rin yung mga bus tanggalin and make it a monopoly of just one or two city bus lines for certain routes like in other countries.

Loud horns for PUB's?

i guess they should first define what is loud and what is bright... like how many decibels is too loud... how many candela (the base unit in light measurement) is too bright

question is, pano nila mamemeasure ito? parang emission test uli? kasama nanaman sa registration? pang pagulo lang yan at mas marami nanaman maibubulsa nila.

siguro naman pag OEM foglights/horns ndi na kasama. i think it complies to international laws na yun.

Dati na ipinagbabawal yug foglights above the normal headlight mount. Kung meron man dapat daw ito covered when inside the metro. Pero kung at level or below the normal headlights, nasa batas po ito dati na pwede gamitin. Law enforcing lang ang kailangan.

Auxiliary driving lights will not be banned. Remember there is a difference between fog lights and driving lights.

Yung MMDA naman talaga... di pa nakuntento na gawing one-way ang mga nananahimik na roads (like Ortigas area, the area near ABS-CBN, the Roces-Pantranco intersection), ngayon pati mga "loud horns and non-essential accessories" pakikialaman.

like what cardsVR said, there have to be guidelines and a foolproof method of testing if the accessory is "illegal' or not. Take horns for example: the news article said that MMDA would allow loud horns if these are used by trucks coming from the provinces because they are necessary on the highway. So where does that leave motorists like me who also frequently travel to the province... may we have those bad, noisy horns or not???
