recently, an mmda officer apprehended my cousin while driving his L300 FB. the reason is that his van don't have "not for hire" and "capacity" markings. he thought the officer was kidding and asked the officer to look at the plate (green). he argued that his van is a private vehicle and why should he put these markings?
if the plate is green, its private and therefore it's understood that its not for hire. is there a law concerning this or what?

Dito sa Makati nahuli din ng MMDA ang FB namin. Tumawag ako sa MMDA hotline, kailangan daw talaga meron.
Di ko lang talaga alam ano use ng "not for hire". Iwas colorum daw. Gagana ba talaga yun?

kolorum? eh kung maglagay ng "not for hire" yung mga kolorum?
i don't get the logic. what if the kolorum camouflage their van with co. markings?

October 4th, 2010 12:27 AM #7well sir, you cannot blame the MMDA or any law enforcement officer...your vehicle type sometimes used for business purposes specially for shuttle service/delivery even if it is a green plate much more...therefore depriving those w/ legal franchise to operate (sounds unfair to them) lalo naka-yellow plate na sila...
encounter similar incident but i was only reminded by a police officer in our province, mine is kia 2700 w/ green plate also altho much bigger than H100 porter and L300fb (all same body design & platform and can be utilized for all-around purposes)..i was requested by the apprehending officer to install a sticker or similar markings to place "Not For Hire" or "Private Use Only" on both sides of the vehicle...for ID that my ride is not used other than specified in the CR and OR...dami kasi usage ng mga unit na ito>>>

you mean owners of FB with green plate is depriving those with franchise? but private owner of FB is not there to compete with them to begin with. its for private use. granting it is being use for business, does one need to have a franchise to use it as a delivery van?
i wonder if a colorum put a "not for hire" markings in his FB... will this make him legal or avoid apprehension?
someones are (at last!) loudly asking, "why did they turn off the countdown timers?"
