What do you think of the MMDA's latest idea to "green" the metro? Plants attached to the walls.

Kaya ba nilang i-sustain ang mga iyan, para hindi matuyo at magmukhang yagit?...
Dapat,- inisip nila ng malalim iyan....
(OT: Ano na kaya sasabihin ng ADMU?....)

For me it looks nice and is much better then the failed BF era vines and "artworks"but the question is will these plants last? Are they suited for where they are being grown?
Kung mabuhay man yung plants, they should also maintain it properly. I've seen walls fall apart na nilagyan lang ng poison ivy and other plants na hindi na prune properly...
Looks better than the tiles it coveredat least hinde mukhang banyo hahaha
I'm more happy MMDA finally rid of the remaining bus loading bays from BF time in the middle of EDSA.. But traffic grew worse along Quezon Avenue when they closed down one of the U turn slots on the intersection along EDSA. Nag spill over ung traffic sa Timog Avenue since that's where you can now make a U turn going to Trinoma...

TOUGH CROWD. I'm surprised the idea didn't get any more approval from you guys. I think this is a great initiative.
If the MMDA wants to push this idea further, they could replace half the billboards in the metro with similar vertical gardens. That way EDSA commuters can easily be reminded that Metro Manila isn't just a dusty, paved-concrete hovel. It'd also solve the concerns of plant roots attacking concrete walls.
Damage to the wall depends on the type of plant. If it's climbing plants, yes... but only for crumbly concrete. The ceramic tiles should be relatively okay.
But the MMDA is putting up hanging plants, which won't damage the walls. The only concern is the durability of the pots.
I think it's an excellent idea. Much better than merely using air-scrubbing paint, use something that more effectively absorbs pollution.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
waste of time and tax paper money.
more likely, hinabol lang yang project to use up 2012 remaining funds.
they should focus on their main job.
ease traffic by ridding the streets of unregistered jeepney, buses etc. and all of us would be happy.
leave these beautification projects to another agency.
Not to beat a dead horse here but
1. nobody else is going to do the urban beautification (and no that's not the DENR's job), so
2. it's not a waste of taxpayer money and a useless sink of 2012 funding if they indeed embark on things like these, and
3. it IS part of their main job.
The MMDA drew flak a few years ago because they removed trees from EDSA. Now that they are returning some plant life to EDSA they get accused of not doing their jobs.
Wow.
