    Isa rin sa mababagong anyo ang toll plaza na ito ng South Luzon Expressway kapag nagsimula na ang pagkukumpuni sa Agosto.

    Ang kinakailangang rehabilitasyon at pagkukumpuni ng sumisikip na South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) ay sisimulan na sa kalagitnaan ng Agosto. Ang agarang implementasyon ay nabuo kasunod ng kasunduang napagtibay sa pagitan ng tollway operator Philippine National Construction Corporation (PNCC) at MTD Manila

    Expressway Corporation (MMEC) matapos tumupad ang huli sa mga requirement ng PNCC na makapagdeposito ng $2.5 million bilang advanced fund sa proyekto. Ang 11B-Peso project ay bubuuin ng Alabang Viaduct Rehabilitation and expansion, labeled TR1 na magsisimula sa Setyembre, ang expansion at rehabilitasyon ng Alabang hanggang sa kahabaan ng Calamba, labeled TR2 na magsisimula sa Agosto, at ang extension ng expressway buhat sa Calamba hanggang sa Sto. Tomas, Batangas, isang 7.8 kilometer extension buhat sa Calamba hanggang sa Star Tollway, labeled TR na kukumpunihin sa Oktubre.

    “Estimated construction for all the projects will be 24 months upon commencement. This estimated was made assuming that all government permits and right-of-way are obtained in a timely manner,” paliwanag ni MMEC president Mark Dumol. “The time savings alone will be worth more than the amount of the project.

    A study conducted by the University of the Philippines estimated that unnecessary traffic on the SLEX costs the country about two billion pesos in lost time and productivity. This amount does not even cover the additional energy cost from fuel consumed in traffic,” komento ni Noel Kintanar, vice-chairman at president ng PNCC. Ang Malaysian-based MTD group na binubuo ng apat na publicly-listed companies sa Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange, dalawa rito ay sangkot sa international infrastructure development. Ang grupo ay pangalawa sa biggest tollway operator sa Malaysia. Mabilis ding pinawi ng MMEC na walang Philippine government financing o sovereign guarantees ang sangkot sa proyektong ito maliban sa financing ng right-of-way acquisition na ipinag-uutos ng batas.

    “Financing of the project will be done by the MTD group through equity which would consist of 30%, while the remaining 70% will come from long-term loan, most likely from the International Finance Corporation, which is part of the World Bank Group,” saad ni Azmil Kahili Khalid, managing director ng MTD Equity Group

    Naku.. tataas naman uli ang toll fees... Parang NLEX yan.. after the rehabilitation...itaas yun rates.. God Save The Philippines

    Yun nga, pero if you look at it carefully, there will be lesser wear and tear on a car's tires and improvement in fuel consumption because of better roads and lesser traffic.

    So, just like what the did for New NLEX, I'd say they go for it this time on the SLEX rehab project which should be completely finished by August 2007.

    Oh no.. not a welcome thought for somebody working in alabang and living in QC. Wala pa naman efficient alternative route for mid south access coming from north. Of course it will be for long term benefit as Zildjian said tiis muna sa perwisyo. During the perwisyo days kaya may bayad pa rin sa toll di ba dapat wala kasi di na sya considered na expressway.

    Just a thought: Siguro dapat the expressway (SLEX, STAR, NLEX etc) should charge their toll based on avereage speed. Of course there should be min and max limit para kung traffic the charge will be lower. I think that's the whole concept of expressway.

    Sir Field Master pwde kang magdaan sa loob ng mga subdivisions para iwas traffic while construction of SLEX is on going, maybe you could exit sa bicutan then take the short cut to sucat tapos pasok ka BF Homes labas mo alabang na pero you have to buy the BF Homes gate pass

    sir, saan ba pwedeng bumili ng BF Homes gate pass? pwede ba kahit di ka taga BF? and pwede ba to sa lahat ng BF subdivisions?

    Hi Greenlyt, thanks for the recommendation, I passed that way once coming from Toyota Alabang and end up in Shakeys or Mcdo along Bicutan Road. When the construction start siguro marami ring gagamit ng inside route na yan.

    From my window on 23rd floor I'm looking at the expanse of laguna lake, I fantasized a straight road from Rizal to Alabang via laguna lake. But that is just a dream.

    Pre, may nagba-biyahe jan na motorized banca from Alabang hanggang Binangonan ata (tatawid kayo ng Laguna Bay). May mga stopover din kung saan-saan. Balita ko P60 daw ang pamasahe one-way.

    Maganda sana kung lagyan nila yan ng tunnel sa ilalim tulad nung New York to New Jersey Tunnel.

    Medyo OT, pero I think the best solution jan sa SLEX is the TRAIN !!!!!! Kailangang i-phase-out na yang 70's era na PNR Train at palitan na ng MRT. Isipin mo, sasakay ka ng train sa Alabang, baba ka sa Magallanes, lakad ng konti on the same station (parang sa Hong Kong) tapos sakay ng train ulit papunta namang QC. Laking ginhawa! Sobrang tipid pa sa gas! You don't need to bring your car to work anymore.

    Nahirapan ako magbasa nung article ah! hehehe, English kc first language ko..

    Anyway it is good that they would be doing the said improvements. The rates though would surely go up, similar to the rates for the merville to alabang exits. That covers the stretch of the SLEX which had already been upgraded.

    It would be nice to have a railway system like the MRT from alabang to makati/quezon city instead of the existing metrotren. But this would come at a high premium considering the amount of 'squatters/urban poor' living along the railroad. Of course the railway would have the right of way but as usual the poor would complain about being evicted from land which is not their own and start whining about how they are supposedly abused...

    balita ko lang ha. Tinitignan ata ni BF kung pwede pag connect ang rizal to laguna via laguna de bay route parang along the shoreline ilalagay ang route. Nakasakay na ako sa bangka sa binangonan pero it was around that area lang, naghahanap kasi kami ng pen

    I've heard of that also, I think the Mayor of Pateros or Pasig ata yun was also thinking about it too.

    Madaming options dyan sa sa South kaya lang problema Budget.. kung meron man mag finance ng project like foreign eh nag dadalawang isip sa dahil takot sa kurakot na politicians.. MRT talagang good solutions yon parang HK na talaga

    di matutuloy yan malamang ginagamit kasi ang pera sa pambyad sa mga solons para di matuloy ang impeachment eheeehehe
