    [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ci2S8lT0_o8"]YouTube - Toyota Hilux Vigo 2.5 VN Turbo[/ame]

I read at [http://tsikot.yehey.com/forums/showt...5#post1298405] that Toyota is releasing a new version of the popular (and also infamous) 2KD-FTV engine. Then I came across the video above, upon searching "2KD VN" on Google. It looks impressive on paper, easily eclipsing power and torque outputs of the previous 102HP/260NM KD 2.5L. If the new 2KD VN engine makes it to Philippine dealerships, future IMV variants are really gonna be attractive. I wonder how much power a 3.0L 1KD VN will make...hmmmmmm...I hope it doesn't eat the 1TR-FE...

Has anyone heard of updates on the VN here?

Awesome engine really, peak torque starting at 1600rpm, that thing can really haul. I can just imagine a 1KD-FTV 3.0 VN Turbo, 180-200 HP, 400Nm of torque anyone? Hopefully they can fit that engine to the Fortuner, Hilux, and Grandia and bring it here ASAP.

Oo, kawawa yung Hiace lalo na yung grandia, anlaki laki ng kaha, ang hina ng makina. Sa Innova tama lang yung engine at hindi underpowered pero sa hiace ba naman?

I hope a future 1KD VN 3.0L will make 200HP! If fitted onto a Hilux, that would eat the Navara (and pretty much every other pickup in the PhDM) in all aspects, maybe except economy.

    I'd still want a VN-powered Innova if TMPI won't sell one with a 2TR 2.7 VVT-i...

It's about time Toyota shows some speed...hehehe...

Checked the photos from Toyota Thailand and the grill has that VN Turbo logo embedded on it.

And I'm guessing the VN means Variable Nozzle, their own version of VGT right? The 1KD-FTV already has this but it makes me wonder how they got the 2.5 to output the same amount of torque. Surely added an intercooler but I guess they tuned it in such a way to get this amount of power.

facelifted hilux to the same effect as the facelifted fortuner. very minor cosmetic upgrades (grill, hood). projector headlights wouldn't have hurt. hehehe

It can't be a VGT, mababa lang e. Intercooler siguro.

    Mitsubishi's 2.5L Strada new engine outputs 175hp.

Ayan di na pagtatawanan Toyota at least among the Japanese competitive na sila. Of course talo pa din sa Korean (Hyundai's R-engine) and the Germans.

Can you link us where you got that information please?

Oh and I've been reading the spec sheet for the 3.0 1KD-FTV and it's equipped with a Variable Nozzle Turbo or so it says. I tried googling that and I've been coming up with VGT links all over the place. Can't say for sure but I'm guessing Hyundai's VGTs are tuned in such a way that they output much more with a smaller displacement.

I think if Toyota tried, they could do the same with what Hyundai's doing or even better really.

Wikipedia says VGT is the general term for VNT, VATN, VVT, and VTG. [ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Variabl...y_turbocharger ] So the 2KD VN has VGT.

Hey, Mitsubishi's on a roll! I hope the new 4D56 also ends up on the Fuzion or Adventure.

Hey, don't laugh at Toyota. At least they're not as lazy as Isuzu...considering Isuzu's the "diesel king". Hehehehe...

Still too weak and too late I'm afraid.

By the time this is available, Hyundai-Kia already has their Tucson, Santa Fe and Sorento CRDi R engines here. A 2.0L -184hp and a 2.2L CRDi 200hp engine which are all mated to a 6 speed M/T and A/T.

Really? The current 2.5L Strada has a max output of 136ps. The 3.2L Strada pumps out a max 160ps. Unless you are referring to an all new engine?
