Last week, I drove the Innova 2.5 D-4D automatic around Metro Manila and brought to Intramuros for a photo shoot.
I was nervous when Toyota handed me the keys of the red Innova because it was Friday the 13th. Oh well, I just prayed and took the vehicle first to Ortigas to meet some people from Yehey.com. Seating position is good for my height and visibility is superb. I like the MP3 compatible audio but the sound quality is not that good. The D-4D engine is quiet and the air conditioning system is icy cold. Space on the third row seat is excellent while the second row is average. The suspension is also great especially on potholes and cobble-stoned streets of Intramuros. My estimated fuel consumption for the Innova is around 6-7 km/L city driving.
Speaking of the interior, the plastics are obviously tacky though beige fabrics lighten the mood. The power side mirror switch suddenly sank when I adjusted the right side mirror. The cough syrup-colored wood panels should be improved. The hand brake is light and snappy though steering is quite firm and responsive.
The Innova is a big improvement from its predecessors in terms of design and ride but I think they can improve more on the quality.
