Nung pina-80kms PMS ko yung Altis ko, findings ng Toyota is kelangan i-replace axle boot on both sides dahil may sound na daw kapag nagturn. Di ko muna pinagawa yun dahil mahal and I wanted 2nd opinion outside.

May car is Altis 2003 1.6J, 80kms odo.

Kung intact pa naman siya, I don't think that it needs to be replaced.

Nasa labas kaya naririnig nya. Sa loob ng car wala marinig. I suspected brake lng yun. Try ko rin yang recommendation mo. Mayron ba kayong alam along marcos hi-way na nag-rerelubricate?

One way to check kung may sira ang CV, ipihit mo ng todo yung manibela at i-abante at i-atras kapag may tumunog (tok tok tok) means na may sira na ang CV.

One of the typical checks during PMS is the checking of the rubber boots.

The reason for recommending a rubber boot change is based on the assessment of the SA if the rubber boot will last until the next PMS. For example. If the mechanic inspects the rubber boots and feels that it will spring a leak within 5000-10000km, then he will recommend that it be replaced.

Replacing the rubber boots will not cure a noisy, worn out CV joint.
A noisy CV joint means that the joint itself is worn out and is due for a replacement.

Failing to replace a rubber boot before it cracks open can cause all the lubrication to be expelled from the CV joint.
If a rubber boot breaks sometime between PMS visits, it can also liet dirt in which will hasten the wearing out of the CV joints.
And if the CV joints are dirty due to a broken boot, extra work will have to be done to clean it and regrease it.

Just like brake pads. They check them and tell you to replace them even if they still have a few thousand kms to it. Why? Well, if you wear them down to the metal and end up grinding your rotors between PMS visits, you will then have to either reface your rotors or buy new ones aside from the brake pads...
