If you are going to buy a toyota vehicle and order one. Which are CBU and which are CKD?

    CBU - Completely Built Unit
CKD - Completely Knocked Down Unit

Is is true that Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Rav4, FJ Cruiser, and Toyota Corolla Altis are CBU units and the rest are CKDs?

Parts are brought in and assembled locally. These term became popular when TMPC launched the AE92 Corolla in 1989. The first units brought in were SKD from Japan (semi knock down - basically imported almost fully built w some parts like tyres batteries installed locally). When the manufacturing facilities were down pat, they shifted to CKD (complete knock down). Premium was of course given to the Japan assembled vehicles. Mas matibay daw, mas malakas daw, etc.

    Ayos ito ah.

My next question is, in terms of quality and probability of receiving a lemon car, gaano kalayo ang CBU na galing sa Thailand as compared to CBU na galing sa Japan?

If i were to use the Hiace as a case study, this has a D4d engine and yet i dont think the early D4d Hiace models had the issues the Innova did. We have a 2007 Hiace Grandia GL and to date it still runs very well.

People like to claim that CBU Japan cars are better built than their Thai counterparts. Personally, as long as the car's good and reliable, it doesn't matter where it's built.

For example, I'd rather get a CBU-Thailand Altis than a CBU-Japan Vitara. Where the car came from isn't as important as how the car looks, how it drives, what features it has, how much it costs, and how easy it is to maintain.
