Hi. can anybody help me regarding Toyota Innova D4D power loss. Mine is Innova E manual 2006 model and has done 150,000km. Have replaced timing belt and reset warning light. I have new air cleaner and fuel filter. Scanner does not detect any fault. It starts easily and does not stall at all. I experience speed loss when going up an incline (C5 Ortigas flyover) where I have to shift to low gear to try to maintain speed. Have difficulty going up basement parking ramps and need some bwelo to manage to get up. Definitely not clutch problem since engine RPM goes down together with speed and may stall. It has very poor acceleration but seems to be fine at low driving speeds, say up to 40kph. But acceleration is very poor when I enter SLEX or NLEX. I will appreciate any help. God bless.

By the way, I have replaced the SCV with the new longer model type to no avail. Still poor or low power or acceleration though I can reach 100+kph on NLEX.

Have you tried cleaning the MAF sensor?

per experience, such problems (poor climbing power) are usually connected to the injectors. Dirty injectors. Try to have Denso take a check at it if you can.

No turbo leaks? Turbo works fine?

Sounds either like a boost issue or a fuel issue.

I think the culprit is your injectors. I suggest you to visit central diesel in quezon ave. corner sgt magbanua. I had the same issue like yours.

Please see my earlier reply. It should cost you less than P2,000 for a D4D engine.

By the way, after my earlier report of fix by cleaning the injectors, the power was still low and I still experienced progressive power loss after a couple of months. The Final fix that seems to have brought back almost full power was cleaning fuel tank filter. It cost me P750 at a Shell gas station and now I'm quite happy with the performance of my Innova diesel. A friend as well as Toyota service recommended this fix. It worked!

What do you mean by fuel tank filter? ung buong fuel tank ba? parang wala naman fuel filter ang fuel tank. ang pinaka fuel filter/fuel water separator ay right beside the engine bay.

Good info. It was just cleaned and not replaced?

    Hi All,
I finally got my Innova power loss problem fixed. Got my fuel tank and filter cleaned at a Shell gas station for P750.00. The fuel filter inside was quite dirty restricting fuel flow to the engine.
Now it works quite well, nearly like it was when I bought the car.
I initially thought it was the SCV valve or the fuel injector needs calibration or replacement. Got the injector cleaned with some improvement. Only when I got the fuel tank cleaned (of course with the fuel filter in the engine replaced), did I get the engine behave well as it should. Thank God!

Thanks a lot for your feedback. you and vinj are both correct. I managed to get my injectors cleaned at Motor Doctor in Antipolo for less than P2,000. It's a one to 2-hour job depending on how stubborn some bolts are and how long it takes to clean the injectors. Other shops offer to sell "remanufactured" injectors when in fact a high power ultrasonic cleaning will do the job. My Innova now runs quite fine.

By the way I have some pictures of the injectors before and after cleaning. I just don't know how to post them here.

For injector cleaning, try Motor Doctor sa Marcos Highway, Antipolo just after the boundary with Marikina. They are within the Phoenix gas station compound opposite Jollibee and beside PLDT.
You may also try getting your fuel TANK cleaned at some gas station. There is a filter INSIDE the tank that can clog fuel flow. The TANK cleaning will make the big difference esp. if your car has many kilometers into it.
Please see Facebook page "Toyota Innova Owners Phils" for pictures of the cleaning operation.
