My unit is a 2014 Fortuner 4x2G Diesel VNT M/T and I got the unit sa Toyota Makati, was released last Sept. 5, 2014. And to tell you po, naibaba na transmission nito agad for warranty sa Toyota Taytay last Nov. 11, 2014, 1,671kms pa lang mileage as of now. Pero i compared it sa other units, walang ganon eh.

So dinala ko po sa Toyota Taytay last Nov. 11 since yun ang pinaka malapit na dealer sa place ko. Ang findings sa Toyota Taytay after nila ibaba transmission was meron daw pong 8 fingers ang pressure plate, 3 daw po naka angat dun sa 8 fingers. Inalign daw po nila to fix the problem. I got my unit back Nov. 12, 2014. And JUST AFTER 1 DAY, Nov. 13, 2014, nararamdaman ko nanaman yung parang kumukulo pag ni rerelease at inaapakan ko yung clutch pedal which really bothers me. I asked the SA sa Toyota Taytay pano umangat yung fingers ng pressure plate na sinasabe nya, sa pagkagawa daw ng sasakyan, so this is really a factory defect, right?

I really want my unit to be replaced. What should I do? Feeling ko hindi na brand new yung Fortuner ko, and I dont want this car anymore.

Can I demand for a unit replacement for this? I just really want a unit replacement or a refund for my Toyota Fortuner.

Right now, waiting daw po ang Toyota Makati for the response ng Toyota Motor Philippines technical team. But as of now, my decision is that, I will not accept our Fortuner anymore, because I really want the unit to have a replacement
    or a full refund.

    Please help po, Thanks.

AFAIK, it's not for the unit to be replaced at this point but rather, they should first replace the entire clutch assembly first if that's the cause. What does the Law have to say?

We had clutch problems on our 2005 Patrol GU and our 1996 LC80 before (when both were still near brand new). Toyota replaced the clutch and release bearing twice before the problem went away for good. Nissan also did the same on the Patrol and they had to replace the clutch master as well before it went away. Both vehicles are still with the family to this day with well over 100K on the odo. No units replaced but the problems were fixed.

Ang akin lang kase sir, ginawa ng Toyota Taytay, then one day lang, isang araw lang, anjan nanaman yung problema, then for sure ibababa nanaman ng Toyota Makati itong transmission. Kung ibababa kaya nila ulit sir, can I request for a whole new transmission system na not just the clutch system?

Your rights under the law are to demand a replacement of the whole vehicle if the problem cannot be fixed after four extra repair attempts after you invoke lemon law coverage. Which means they get three more attempts to fix the problem.

As for transmission replacement... a bit premature to say. You'll have to wait for the advice of the dealer.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Nakalusot sa Pre-Delivery Inspection ng Toyota Makati yan?

To think na TMP dealer yan. (AFAIK) Tsk, tsk, tsk.

What is "kumukulo" na clutch by the way?

From what I can surmise after reading your story, your clutch is "grabbing". This is because the clutch fingers are not aligned to permit smooth / straight forward engagement of the clutch friction disc. Another term would be clutch judder.

Demand at the very LEAST, for the dealer to replace your clutch assembly, (clutch disc, cover, and release bearing). It was not "repaired" in the first place.

    My 2 cents worth.

So sir, if I will be requesting for a clutch assembly replacement (clutch disc, release bearing, clutch cover, pressure plate etc.), and the problem will still persist after fixing, can I demand for a unit replacement/refund after that? Gusto ko po kase sana kung possible is magkaron kame ng agreement, na ganon na after i replace nila ng buo, and babalik yung problema, automatic palit unit na. Kase I really feel po na hindi po tama ito para binayaran ko, this is really frustrating, very inconvenient for us din kase dahil from Angono, Rizal pa po kame and ang layo layo ng Toyota Makati samin.

Kumukulo sir, like parang I feel na there is a grinding vibration sa clutch pedal na nararamdaman ng paa ko while depressing and releasing the clutch pedal.

    1. This broken clutch/transmission

    2. There is a "boog" sound sa hood pag napapalakas yung sara ng pinto po sa harap, I tried po na isara ng malakas na malakas yung pinto nung bukas yung hood, wala naman pong tunog.

Try to check the hood stopper adjustment.

May anti-LEMON law na yata tyo d2 sa pinas.pwede mo ilaban kung sakali d pa rin maayos ung sasakyan after replacing the clutch assy(pressure plate, clutch disc, release bearing).pero dapat nung unang ginawa pa lng sa Toyota Taytay, pinalitan na kagad.ung mga fingers na cnasabi eh ung tinatamaan ng release bearing pag tinatapakan ang clutch pedal, tama po ba?so palagay ko,mapalitan lng ng clutch assy yan,oks na yan sir.wala na cguro kinalaman ang tranny para papalitan mo din.address mo kagad sa service manager ng toyota taytay kse warranty claim na,backjob pa.para makuha mo din kagad sasakyan mo the same day.

    Hi,

Yes, demand that the clutch assembly be replaced. Sh!t happens (sorry to be so frank about it), the most probable explanation for this is the clutch cover that was installed into your car had a defect that slipped thru quality control at the manufacturing plant. The parts are not made by Toyota themselves, rather they procure them thru OEM Manufacturers. These parts are made using Toyota specifications, what ever they may be.

I do not see any problem with the tranny (subjective point of view).

The other concerns, you can refer to your dealer of choice. Have your Service Advisor write on the service booklet all the things that were done to your car. Also keep copies of the work invoices (kahit under warranty pa yan). These would be your documentation should future problems come out. Wag naman sana. Good luck.
