    noobish question lang about these engines

    1KZ-TE (prado) EFI - electonic fuel injection
    1KD-FTV (hilux/fortuner) d-4d - direct injection common rail

    both 2982cc displacement, same engine block ba ito with different fuel system or totally different engines?

    AFAIK these are two totally different engines.

    walang pang binebentang 1kd-ftv engine and tranny dito sa pinas.

    kd is more fuel efficient than kz.

    Wala pa ata. Unless it comes from a totalled or chopped Fortuner/Hilux. Nga lang kung totalled, baka may tama na din yung engine and tranny.

    The KZ engine is pretty thirsty, especially the KZ-TE coz the turbo is small and boost comes in early and stays on most of the time.
