March 5th, 2020 03:19 PM #1Yes, this is a relatively small displacement gasoline engine, and I would even say it is somewhat to be expected to be reaching 3000rpm to get going at a decent pace. If you prioritize fuel efficiency, try to keep the revs lower, preferably letting it shift at around 2000rpm. But otherwise, driving this way regularly will not negatively affect the engine. That is, after all, only halfway through its entire rev range.

If you ask me, I will shift at 5k rpm (or higher) when I hit the open road. Open up the throttle and try to hit peak power every shift.

March 6th, 2020 12:53 AM #3Owned one for 5 years. If you accelerate gently, it will shift around 2000 rpm. But the acceleration is really slow. Even if you are gentle, fuel consumption is quite high, around 7 km/l in the city.
If you want fast, step on the gas harder without releasing until you want to shift up. The car will easily surge forward. As long as you step aggressively, the shift will occur at higher rpm.
