Why is it that my gas warning light turns on even if the guage is still slightly higher than the bottom line, and when refuel about 10 liters, the guage reading almost 1/3 tank full?

...when it light's,it doesn't mean you're running out of fuel,warning lang yan na minimum na ang gas mo,meron pang laman ang gas tank mo na more or less 10 ltrs. depends on the type of your vehicle,kaya ng magkarga ka ng 10 ltrs. biglang taas ang gauge mo;

before, the warning light signals a when the needle points below the E-mark. Im just wondering why, suddenly, even if the needle is above the E-mark, it lights up. is there a way to clean the sensor? usually full tank from below E-mark is around 35 liters. it's a toyota corolla gli '98 model.
