Pinoy rowers win intl swan boat race

The Philippine National Dragon Boat Team bagged the top prize in the 19th International Swan Boat Races in Thailand over the weekend, radio DZMM reported Monday.

The Philippine Coast Guard said the Philippine team bested other groups from Macao, United States, Cambodia, Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, Thailand and Hong Kong.

According to www.swanboat.org, the event was held from September 8 to 9 on the Chao Phraya River (River of Kings), Bangsai Royal Folk Arts and Crafts Center. It is near the ruins of the golden city of Ayutthaya, former capital of Siam.

Lieutenant SG Armand Balilo, Coast Guard spokesman, said the Philippine team’s victory in Thailand is a good start for the group as it prepares to compete in a tournament in Australia.

The Philippine National Dragon Boat Team is composed of 10 Coast Guard rowers, two from the Philippine Army, one from the Philippine Navy and the rest are civilians.

congrats! but there's an even stronger rowing team here, yung taga camarines, they smoked the phil rowing team in a small regatta race here at manila bay just this year.

i thought nga na yung camarines ang national team but the real national team showed up and joined the last race leg nonranked, but lo and behold iwan sila ng camarines hehe i saw the camarines rowers up close parang mga mangingisda talaga

Congratulations to the Philippine Dragon Boat Team.

Miles, you are referring to the fishermen from Camarines Sur.

Totoong mangingisda lang yung mga yun, limot ko na yung story nila but they were already featured sa ilang TV docu shows.

They've won a few local and international tournaments already and they are popular within the Dragon Boat rowing community here in Asia.

Congrats sa mga magigiting na rowers ng Philipinne National Dragon Boat Team!

Dagdag medalya sa Pinas yan. Ipagpatuloy ang tagumpay sa Australia para mabawasan ang pag-insulto nila sa atin.
