July 11th, 2018 07:01 AM #5sounds like bearings.
one of your pulley bearings may need lubrication.
this happened to us in another car, years ago.
we tried wd40, which relieved the noise for about 2 weeks, only to return after that.
the only long-term solution is to replace the bearing.
it might be loose belts, in which case tightening them might work. but... i don't think so. try it, anyway.
good luck.

I also think it's one of the bearings. Pulleys to check would be the idler pulley, alternator, water pump, and power steering pump (if not EPS).
When the A/C compressor runs, does the noise increase, decrease/disappear, or stays the same?

July 11th, 2018 03:17 PM #7seems like a loose or misaligned belt but there's a way to check simply by spraying water on the belt near the pulley. if the noise gets louder, the belt is loose. if it goes away, the belt or pulleys are misaligned. if no change, probably pulley bearings.

WD40 has no place in a continuously moving part. It's a short-term lubricant meant to dislodge stuck parts (ie. screws, tools, etc). Apart from this product being able to displace water and moisture, it is also a good degreaser. Spraying WD40 on bearings will actually dissolve or remove whatever lubrication it has. It might work for a while, but once the very thin film of WD40 dries up, the bearing will end up in a worse condition than before.
