MANILA, Philippines - Japan's Suzuki Motor Corp. plans to build a car manufacturing plant in Laguna, beside its newly-inaugurated motorcyle manufacturing plant, The Manila Standard Today reported on Friday.
"We are planning to put up a car manufacturing facility beside our existing motorcycle manufacturing plant in Laguna," Suzuki Motor chairman and chief executive Osamu Suzuki was quoted saying in the report.
No elaboration was made, although Suzuki said the new plant will create fresh jobs for Filipinos, especially those living near the area.
The firm on Thursday inaugurated its P1-billion motorcycle plant in Canlubang, Laguna eyed to produce 200,000 units annually or more than double what the company produces in its Pasig City facility.
