    Hello People!!!

Could you guys please tell me what mainstream (not specialist) brand of gas shocks is the stiffest?

You see, my OMEs gave out after 1.5years of use and started bottoming even when stepping on midsize humps. I recently replaced them with KYB Super gas shocks (installed by Glennster's G&S Auto Supply). However, the shocks i installed still bottom out on uneven roads at high speed and on Big humps.

Culprit? My OME springs.... which give lift, but are so soft (for articulation daw) Rather than reinstalling my stock springs (lundo na), im now looking for good hard shocks.

    Suggestions peeps? TIA

OME giving up after 1.5 years of use? Very unusual. They are built tough to withstand the outbacks of Australia and I believe the Phil. distributor even gives 1 year warranty on it. My OME and coils in my Vitara are 2.5 years old and still going strong. It survived the harsh offroad trails of our province when the Vit was still there for 2 years (and to think my Dad goes on 2-3 major offroading sorties per month for 24 months). As far as I know, with regards to OME coil springs, they have light and heavy duty models. Baka siguro light duty ang nakabit sa paj mo :-)

Hard shocks? how about Bilstein? You may also need shocks with a longer stroke to handle the lifted coils.

On KYB shocks: are you sure they're bottoming out? You might be feeling the sudden rebound/ expansion stroke of gas shocks after a quick compression. This is typical valving of KYB on their gas shocks.

You are right you will need stiffer shocks for your softer coils.

Try Bilstein if you are willing to spend PHP 22,000.00. For real savings try Monroe Gas Charged (OME's are made by them too). If you opt for their big cylinder shocks make sure the front shocks do not come into contact with the camber bolts to avoid punctures.

Call monroe Marketing you can find their contact nos. in the directory.

Duda ko kaya nag bottom out yung OME shocks, either kulang sa compression stroke.

I'm really sold for Bilsteins 5100 series shocks! The ride is soft but firm for tarmac road yet gives me the extension and compression stroke when the need arises.

Hello Peeps!!!! Thanks for all the advice!

Im afraid that the OME's have really given in. In OZ alam ko three years warranty nga to e. Unfortunately, one lang dito. Lusot na yung shocks, so it wont be of much use. Naka display lang sa shop ng cousin ko. The springs are or the progressive rate kind, and is supposed to be for towing. So far oks naman, ganda yung ride, but the shocks (built to oem spec, and not to match my springs) cant cope with them.

Im leaning towards bilsteins, but im also gonna check out monroe's units. What about RS9's set to the stiffest? Pwede kaya?

Go for the Bilsteins pare! I should have let you tested my ride to judge it for yourself. :D

Maganda rin naman ang famous RS9 with 5 settings, pero may bagong labas na RSX9 with 9 settings. The only problem is if they have available stock for every ride?

OT: Ganda ng sig mo ah! Pahiram din nyang hinahatak mo minsan.

I gave them away na eh. But if my cousin's not using them (for display), i'll try to get them back.
