ABS light indicator is on what to do?

Just noticed that my abs indicator light is on may i know whats the first thing to do with this? Ano kelangan ipa check? Mahal ba ang parts and labor? Prior to this problem ive been hearing squeaking sound during hard breaks on my rear tires. Car is corolla 1997 gli 1.6

there could be ferrous dust from your squeaking brakes that is sticking to the rear wheel speed sensor making the signal waveform different from the normal sine waveform.
try cleaning the sensor tip first

Best if the error codes(s) can be read so you'll know exactly what's causing it. Can't help you with the 'how', though.

Most definitely. The '95 Sentra Series III already had it. I remembered it because it ran TV ads about the feature.

If you can safely do a low speed emergency stop to activate the ABS, see if it still engages?
