AFAIK drum brakes kapag nalubog sa baha nagfa-fade, disk brakes hinde.

Disc brakes usually produce shorter and more consistent stopping distances than comparable drums.

keeping in mind that brakes retard motion by converting energy to heat energy, disc brakes, due to their open design, are able to dissipate heat more effectively than drum brakes, and so are less prone to brake fade (temporary loss of braking ability because the brake components are saturated with heat)

exactly! in the same way na mas maganda ang dissipation of heat ng ventilated, and cross drilled brakes than regular disc brakes

Disc brakes cools fown faster, esp those ventilated type. Therefore it gives a better performance. And dries faster also when submerged into floods.

Although the brake shoes for drum brakes last longer than of the brake pads (disc brakes), siguro mga 1:2 ratio.

ito yung discs na meron mga butas dun mismo sa braking surface.

Tanong: bakit usually sa likod lang ang vented discs? sa harap solid?

    hmmm....

Baliktad yata, di ba kadalasan ang vented sa harap tapos solid sa likod?

Kasi ang pagkaka-alam ko kaya kadalasan vented sa harap kasi the front brakes do majority of the braking compared to the rear brakes.

Paki correct na lang po kung mali.

    Thanks.

yup, the front is the vented and the rear are solid for those cars with 4 wheel disc brake systems. The front brake does more stopping work than the rear so it heats up at lot more and needs the additional ventilation to air cooling and prevent overheating & brake-fade.

As for cross-drilled disc brakes, these are brake rotors with holes drilled through it to aid in preventing the "gasses" produced by vaporizing brake pad material from lifting the pads from the disc, something like a hovercraft. This happens in more extreme braking applications.

The slotted brake rotors also do the same thing but also tend to clean the surface of the brake pads of burnt brake-pad material giving you a clean brake pad surface every time you try to apply the brakes hard. Downside, brake pads dont last as long as compared those used on ordinary rotors.
