hi! i was wondering if someone would be able to help me...
i own a chery qq.. and yung orig na tire niya is 165/65/13, and pag nagpapahangin ako, i simply do 30psi... kc ito yata ung nakasanayan ng madaming tao, and pag pumupunta ako ng gas station, laging 30 ung default...
last week, i decided to upgrade to bigger tires. i was able to buy 185/60/13 ... and still, i use 30psi for the air pressure..
recently a read an article regarding taking into consideration the "recommended" tire pressure as stated on the tire's sidewall, and mine read 35psi...
my question is, what should i follow.., taking into consideration, that i only have a small car, and my new tires can definitely "easily" support its weight...
should i still stick to jsut 30psi, or should i follow what i just read and increase it to 35? and if im going out of town, lets say im going to baguio..., should i use 35psi? and also, regarding the chery qq, its suspension is not that good, so basically matagtag sa humps and sa normal driving conditions.., im worrying that if i do 35 psi, maciado siya matigas...
hope u guys can give ur opinions.. thanx so much!

    frustrated,
if you have been using this tire pressure without losing traction, normal stopping distances and good fuel economy and normal wear on the tire, you can stick with it though the car manufacturer "recommends" that tire pressure spec. check the wear pattern on your tire. they should wear generally even across the tread, not balding in the middle nor balding on the shoulder of the tread more than the rest of the tread. or you can check on the footprint using carbon paper and a blank typrewriting paper under the tire with the vehicle at rest. drive over the paper and do this on all four tires and get the general footprint contact

if the recommended pressure is 35 psi, but you are worried on the stiffness and tagtag issues, do a 32 psi...

If the suggested tire pressure is 35 psi and you feel that it is to hard and bumpy
lower the tire pressure that will make your ride comfortable. No need to follow the suggested tire pressure it is only a guide not to overinflate the tire .

For a car that size (Chery QQ) 35 is too high IMO. 30psi is the right compromise for me.

Nitrogen inflation makes a difference too in terms of pressure consistency.

    just my :twocents:

From experience tires usually do not have a recommended tire pressure on their sidewalls. Rather what they have is the MAXIMUM tire pressure.

Your best bet is to refer to your car's owner's manual. Or you could look around for a sticker with tire pressures. Hondas usually have this on the doorjamb. Try looking for one on your QQ

Actually you can vary it depending on what ur up to at the moment.

Kung mag-isa ka lang w/in the city, wala namang nakasakay sa likod na matatagtag. At since traffic, higher is better.

Sa highway compensated naman ang FC kasi mabilis ka at iwas blowout pa so pede mababa.

to the TS, this may help you:

    http://www.edmunds.com/ownership/how...3/article.html

basically, use the recommended pressure (i have mine on my doorjamb) as baseline and adjust (tire temp, comfort, etc...).

Note also that tires are more likely to fail when underinflated than overinflated (up to a certain extent).

Underinflated tires will flex more causing it to heat up and potentially weakens the integrity of the carcass and/or tread.

    Thank you..!
actually, to solve my problem, just today i tried setting the psi to 35... medyo matagtag nga siya, lalo na pag may humps.. but obviously acceleration was better..., and when im running 80-100kph, its as if the handling was a lot better...
but i guess ill just stick to 30psi, since medyo ramdam mo na talaga ung mga lubak.. thanx!

Kung saan comfortable ride mo doon ka .Sa akin 30psi rin habang umiinit gulong mo nadadagdagan hangin kaya okay lang ito.
