My left rear tire suffered a major blowout early this morning. Good thing it happened as we were about to exit the Filinvest tollgate in Alabang. Since Minerva Tires was just about a kilometer or so away, I didn't bother changing it anymore. Upon reaching Minerva, I noticed 2 deep scratches, paint chipped off actually, at the bottom end of the bumper near the wheel well. With the tire dismounted, I was able to draw a connection to how the scratches came about. The tire was literally blown at the threads, about 4 inches long. Grabe parang sinaksak at nilagare! Putol un mga parang steel belts sa loob. Only probable cause is may nasagasaan ako na bakal or something na matalas, ripped my tires then tumalsik dun sa near bottom part ng bumpers resulting to the scratches. Sad to say, kakailanganin na talaga magpalit. Since I was already running late for the office, I just had my reserve tire mounted for the meantime. All my tires is palitin na din naman, about three years na rin in service. It would definitely burn a hole in my pocket, pero I'm thinking na palitan na lang lahat para pantay ang threadwear. Would like to ask for your personal recommendations sana. My current set is Yokohama AVS ES100's. Had very good experience with them actually, pero gus2 ko sana magtry ng iba. I'm thinking of getting either Dunlop LM702, Bridgestone Potenza, or Falken Ziex 512. I'm also thinking of upsizing from 195/60R15 to 205/55R15. Is this advisable? If yes, my choice for this size is Dunlop Direzza DZ101 sana. Is this any good? Your comments and suggestions will be mostly appreciated. Thanks!

BTW, my ride is a 92 Galant GTi. Fellow GTi bros your preferences sana please? Thanks dudes!

Sa 195 60 15? C-Drives might be nice, but if Turanza GR80s are available in that profile, they're great. Very quiet and great grip for a 'comfort' tire.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

I concur... I just got Turanza (GR-80's) today for my car and the initial impression is quite okay. We have the older version (195/60R15 Turanza GR-60) in our Galant VR m/t and i'm surprised that it's holding up to the power quite amply (not high performance territory but okay na).

Sir balak ko narin magpalit ng tires, san nyo po nabili yung Yokohama C-drive? May number po pa kayo ng shop. Magtatanong sana ako ng pricing. Salamat!

just in case u are more price conscious than brand conscious, go to evangelista st. in makati and look for a 1-month old set of tires. save around P4k. i got a set of yokohama a-300 from a new innova doing that.

mahirap mag hanap ng 205/555/15.. yan din sana gusto ko, pero wala akong makita. im using potenza g3. of all the tires i checked, these had the stiffest sidewalls, which is what i wanted kasi 50 series gamit ko, need strong sidewalls for the potholes.
