Looks like my joint will soon fail. This morning when making a u-turn I heard this constant knocking sound. Hay gastos nanaman.

Mahina palang naman and it doesnt sound when I don't do full turns. It also isn't heard when I don't accelerate abruptly during u turns. You think I should replace it na or should I wait nalang for them to really fail?

Okay lang ba ang replacement joints or should I buy na the orig ones since I intend to keep the car for a long time naman. FYI orig assemblies, left and right will set me back 60k without labor. Pero at least sure na ito...tatagal. And since orig naman mga kinabit ko before, at least para all orig na din.

What do you think? Palitan ko na as early as now?....wait nalang muna till it really annoys me...hehe.

Another dilemma is if I intend to keep the car long, should I replace it with orig assemblies (both inner, outer for left and right costs 60k) or will the replacement be more practical. How long does replacement usually last and what is a good brand? Wala yatang 555 nito...

Baka kaya pa i-repack with CV grease.

Kung hindi na, better replace it now than later. Although I drove my Sentra (Series 3) before na lumalagatok na yung CV joint for over 1 year (talagang rinig na yung tok-tok-tok, hehehe).

I had it fixed sa Servitek (near Regalado Avenue/Commonwealth) in 2004. Don't remember the replacement brand they used, but it was German-made. Until now, ok pa rin naman, sabi nung friend ko (siya kasi nakabili nung 2007). 1.2k lang yata each, IIRC.

Galactus is right. Try mo ipa-repack ng grease kasi baka dumi lang yan especially if the rubber boots are worn out. If symptoms persist, consult your mechanic.

As for the orig assy, napakamahal naman pa 60K. Mag canvass ka rin sa iba. If talagang mahal, a Japan or Thailand - made replacement is OK . . . NEVER made in China!

I had my "clapping" CV joints replaced after 3 years. I know it sounds crazy pero hindi naman kasi delikado, maingay lang. This is according to my experience.

Just a little bit of a background. I had my boots replaced just last week because of a leak. Nilinis yung joints tapos just yesterday found out na may clapping na. Hindi naman ganun kalakas and as I've said, maririnig lang during full turns and when you give it a bit of a torgue on the gas pedal.

I prefer replacing the whole assembly na instead of repacking again para wala nang problema.

Galactus: Okay naman pala ang replacement. Might as well have it replaced nalang, the whole assembly with replacement parts na japan kung tumagal naman pala almost 5 years yung sayo (?).

jjmd3: Ang alam ko din hindi naman delikado ito eh. I mean I will definitely replace it once sound is persistent na and obvious. Ngayon kasi parang nakakapanghinayang pa palitan. I'm just concerned there might be other parts that will get damaged if I don't replace it asap. Kung part din naman ng cv joint assy ang masisira, okay lang coz I plan to replace the whole assy left and right anyway pag lumala na...

    Tama kaya plano ko?
