bigger rims/tires = faster ride?

say you got a car, then replace the stock rims with larger ones. di ba per revolution of the tires, you travel farther because of the larger diameter? ano kaya ung effect nito, do you necessarily go faster, or just more efficient?

it will be faster than what's indicated in your speedometer. but acceleration will suffer since it will require more torque to turn the bigger wheels.

yup. magiging off ng ilang % ang speedometer reading sa actual speed mo. but there wont be any actual increase in speed.

definitely matagtag if you install low profile tires, 30-40 series tires

the primary reason for upsizing wheel/tire combos is:

1. added traction
2. to accomodate bigger brakes
3. porma hehehe

bigger tires will result in a slighty higher topspeed...

but it will certainly DECREASE your straight-line acceleration.

though this is negligible if you have a high hp / torque engine.

It all depends.

If the overall diameter of the wheel/tire combo is bigger, your speedometer will read slower than stock at all speeds.

You can use the Miata.net Tire Calculator to determine this.

If you maintain your original rims and go for larger tires:

Weight increases
Comfort increases (unless the new tires are too big, and bounce or rub on the body, in which case, Comfort decreases)
Acceleration decreases
Fuel economy decreases
Handling suffers (if you get balloon tires)
Handling becomes better (if you get wider tires)

If you get bigger rims, but match overall diameter exactly by using thin tires

Weight increases
Comfort decreases (due to stiff sidewalls and increased unsprung weight)
Acceleration decreases
Fuel economy decreases
Handling becomes better

If you get bigger rims that weigh the same as stock and match overall diameter by using thin tires

Weight decreases (thinner tires weigh less)
Comfort decreases slightly
(or not at all, if the stock tires are already low profile and the stock mags were heavier than the aftermarket mags)
Acceleration increases/decreases (depending on the tires)
Fuel economy increases/decreases (depending on the tires)
Handling becomes much better
