just take note that that post is from three years ago.

sadly, some of it still persists

and one that i can think of that is missing from that post is the actuator issue

Lapit na sa 20k PMS.. the question on "to K&N and not to K&N" is now singing in my mind. It is worth it fellow BOSB?

Is the price range of 3.8k-4k reasonable? Just in case, would you recommend buying the chemical cleaning kit worth 1K?

Also, the price range the OEM Air Filter is Php 2,200.00 pa rin ba? The reason why I am looking at K&N is the life time use andthe cleaning interval can be pushed (sabi sa website) to 50,000miles ... kaya bang for the bucks I think..

    TIA

Yung 50,000 miles sir is normal driving condition, afaik sa Pinas is considered severe so mga 20,000kms lag max mo siguro at kelangan na linisan. Pro if you regularly change oil at aroud 5,000kms, a KN&N would be beneficial indeed since yung addt'l air contaminants will be displaced naman easily during your change oil. Better find a good oil filter as well, read this one sir http://tsikot.com/forums/engine-fuel...19/index1.html

Hello Sir, Magpapa 20k pms pa lang ako on Monday. OEM Air Filter mas mura po sa El Dorado compared to casa. Bought my Air Filter, Fuel Filter and Oil Filter there today, all three cost me 4600 pesos, if casa baka po abutin ng 5.5k. Was also thinking about changing also to aftermarket parts but nanaig ang takot ko because sayang rin yung warranty if anything goes wrong with our truck. 2 years pa naman rin yun. But if you are really decided na sulit nga talaga in terms of cost and better air inflow kaso lang nga, I'll have to agree with S'ry tower na mas konti masasala na air particulates ang K&N compared to OEM so it is a must for you to change oil atleast every 5k and buy better oil filters to compensate for it. But looking at it now, every 20k rin naman change ng air filters natin, so medyo matagal pa before you can say that you've recovered your costs. IMHO lang po

Just had my 20k pms. Spent 4.6 for air filter(1600), fuel filter(2100) and oil filter(900). Then spent 3,650 pesos in the casa. Total of 8250 more or less. Didn't change oil kasi sa 25k pa. It was fast kasi wala masyado tao today sa Diamond Marcos. Medyo nagpataas dito is labor kasi 3k++ yung labor pa lang. Brought my own GDT(Gas and Diesel Treatment) from before kaya nakatipid pa ng 300 pesos. Mura po yung labor nung kay sir Silent_breaker1 sa peak in roxas ha.

^ your oil and fuel filter are aso expensive. Hindi ba puwede buili ng aftermarket parts? Bosch and other filters are as good as OEM (some even better) but cheaper. Read here for some cheaper but better alternatives http://tsikot.com/forums/engine-fuel...19/index1.html

You could save alot if you do pms outside the casa, labor palang patay ka na. I got baldwin fuel and oil filter, used mobil1 fullysynthetic oil and all the other preventive checks, spent not more than 6k pesos. For me BS lang yang warranty nila. Experienced this during my SCV problem.

*dboss - bought it at El Dorado along Aurora cor 20th Ave sa Cubao. It's between Toyota and TIP. Cost breakdown was indicated in my earlier post. The 3.65k included labor, rags, varsol(to clean engine), kit(conditioner for the door rubber moldings, etc.). Nope they did not perform any cleaning sa ACU. When I read the 20km pms nila di pa kasama. Check lang nila lahat and tighten bolts.

*S'KCboy and Ry_tower - tama po kayo. It would have been cheaper if I had it done outside with aftermarket parts. But as with my earlier posts. Sayang naman po yung 2 years na warranty, just don't want to give them any reason to void it po. Also they did perform yung yearly check for the 3 year anti rust warranty. Kailangan performed yearly sa casa or else mavoid din po warranty.

Try Mobil Delvac MX, I think it is about 7 liters because I only bring 7 liters to casa.

    thanks!

Personally sir I do believe ok lang po so long as you consistently change oil every 5k kilometers. Do proper warm ups in the morning or first strarts and proper cool downs after a long drive to preserve the turbo naman. I you want to use synthetic you basically just get more protection lang po specially during cold starts and pag stressed masyado makina. Like I said earlier, if you religiously change oil then it should not be a problem.

    * incisor - agree with S'Vhronx, been a mobil user as well for a long time, you actually only need 6.5lt. for the 2.5 GLX.

    musta incisor...

hinihintay hintay kita sa mga club EBs, hehehe

yep ok lang ang mineral. in fact, some would suggest mas ok na mineral oil muna during break-in period while yung mga piston eh settling in pa.

re: sa liters of oil. if you ask sa diamond motor they'd say 8L. sa citimotors 7 daw.
(ganon talga sa casa, iba iba sinasabi nila. it's up to you na lang. pero ako i find it not-worth makipag argue pa sa advisor on that particualr issue, esp if it might sever your relationship w/ the person which might affect yung overall work your truck)
