sir,
same tayo, am approaching 10,000kms. might chage my oil this week or christmas break. i am confident of this mobil1 5w40 oil that it will out perform 15w40 oil..![]()
here's a ittle something for all the readers:
**Fully Synthetic Characteristics
0W-30
0W-40
5W-40 Fuel economy savings
Enhances engine performance and power
Ensures engine is protected from wear and deposit build-up
Ensures good cold starting and quick circulation in freezing temperatures
Gets to moving parts of the engine quickly
***Semi-synthetic Characteristics
5W-30
10W-40
15W-40 Better protection
Good protection within the first 10 minutes after starting out
Roughly three times better at reducing engine wear
Increased oil change intervals - don't need to change it quite so often
****Mineral Characteristics
10W-40
15W-40 Basic protection for a variety of engines
Oil needs to be changed more often
go0t this from my old oil reference
For me the oil rating is very simple.. on lay mans terms
Correct me if im wrong to this ,it like this the first number is how the oil will behave in the cold star temp.'s. So a 5W will behave like a 5 weight oil during cold cranking. A 15W oil will behave like a 15 weight oil.
The other thing to bear in mind is that most 5W40's will be either fully synthetic or partialy synthetic while 15W40's will be plain dino(ordinary) oil. The additive packages though among the same brand will be either similar or identical.
cold engine starts might have problems is caused by the fact that oil becomes much thicker in cold than the way it is in hot. Oil, like any other liquid changes its consistency when it is exposed to low temperatures as well as it changes back when it is in a very hot weather, and this might cause oil to have problems at the time of circulating in the car engine.
You probably know that cold pancake syrup or honey from the refrigerator is a lot thicker than hot syrup or honey. Oil does the same thing. So when you try to start a cold engine, the engine has to push around the cold, gooey oil and that makes it harder for the engine to spin. In really cold places people must use synthetic motor oils because these oils stay liquid in cold temperatures.
Imagine if your engine is very stress on the start up? how will your engine survive, another thing is to check the temp of the engine using the 5W-40 and 15 -40 oil using the scanner temp.. you will notice a very much diffrerence on the temp. the engine using 5w-40 oil is very much lower temp than the one using 15w-40.. How come? its on the oil, the engine that using 5w-40 is more relax than the one using 15w-40...
Additon to this... The CRDi engine is more hotter than the previous diesel engine, so you need a good quality engine oil to minimimize this heat.

Pero Depende pa rin yan sa end user.. follow yor heart kung saan at alin ang gusto nyo gamitin na oil, This is only our theory and many other's.
Part pa rin to ng theory of relativity, the lighter you carry the faster you move, the heavier you carry the slower you move..hehehehe
One thing, the newer CRDi engine is more faster to achieve the Highest RPM the the old school diesel this means the oil pressure on the newer CRDi engine is more higher. so your oil need to react immediately on this situation..
What more kung fully loaded pa yung sasakyan mo? so lalong hirap at added load sa engine mo.. Pano na to kuya?

hahahaha!!! inintay ko lang yung post mo ninong bago rin ako mag reply eh...
medyo tinamad na din ako....hehehe
baka di lang kasi 10 beses napag usapan yan sa lumang strada thread yan...
added info lang din....
madalas din kasing ma misconceptualize when people say tropical climate
we always have to remember that HOT is different from HUMID....in our case here in our country we have a very HUMID weather wherein it can feel like were experiencing 45c while the thermometer reads only 35c....
and with regards to the manual indicating the recommended SAE rating by MMPC...
well, IMHO a part of it maybe is for the marketing of their own So called fully synthetic oil and probably to compensate the low selling price of the strada....Let us remember that the major downside of the strada is the high PMS cost...and a lot of owners maybe 85 to 90% just tend to do the check in check out method on the PMS...wherein they just pay whatever the total bill is because they want the ultimate care for their daily warrior....without knowing that they can take care of their cars better by just getting a little bit more familiar on the things that is getting done on the PMS...
eto pa...
Since they advertise that the 15w50 is being badge as a fully synthetic oil so you tend to think that 10k kms is its like span right? so imagine....what does it look like when its already in its 10k kms? while the truth is that its just a semi synthetic that isn't really meant to last at that long period of mileage...
Now my question is, isn't that a bad way to treat an engine? go figure...
eto pang isa..
when somebody inside told me that they can sell me the turbo XP for only 250pesos...tinanong ko sa kanya pero kunwari di ko alam..."bat ang mura? diba sabi sa lalagyan fully synthetic yan?" sabi naman sakin, "eh sir sabi lang yun, pero sa totoo lang pang every 5k kms lang yan..."kaya nga ser mababa ko nalang binibigay sayo eh yan sigurado inde ka mauubusan"...sabay ngisi...hehe
nakwento ko kasi sakanya yung adventure ko on finding the motul oil for my last PMS....
may nakapag kwento din sakin na meron daw ibang kliyente na ang gawi eh every 5k kms kung magpa change oil pero they are still being charged for 540/liter....yan daw yung mga tipo ng clients na ang total nalang ng bill ang tinitingnan sa babayaran hehe...I know its just all about business....But this is just outrageous....
ngayon ewan ko nalang pero sasabihin ba satin yung mga hocus pocus na yan when we call the customer service? I'm pretty sure puro blah blah hoolahoohaa lang ang sasabihin nun...
ooopppsss medyo nahaba yata...hehe...just my 2 cents...
So, after all the discussions, ano ang recommendations ng discussants para sa strada natin? Synthetic, semi-synthetic, o mineral oil? 15w-40 or 5w-40?![]()
sir LR777,
Malapit nanaman ang next PMS ko and it will only be in freeway Baliuag... si Roberto ang SA ko dun and twice pa lang po ako nagpaservice sa kanila and so far ok naman... the question sir is what is your impression since you said before na dun din kayo nagpapaPMS and is it the same service center you are referring above? pasensiya na po sa baliuag nalang ang naiwan sa pinagkakatiwalaan kong service center ng mitsu. na within my reach... cross out na kasi sa akin ang motorplaza Urdaneta, ganun din ang carworld in pampanga, so you know.. pabalik2 lang kasi kami from bataan, bulacan and urdaneta pangasinan, bawat service center may iba't-ibang storya!!
I used Motul CRDi Specific 5W-40 on my 20K kms PMS, had no problems with it & was satisfied with its performance.. Now im trying the Mobil 1 Fully synthethic SAE 5W-40 for my 28K mileage..

BOSBs, here is one synthetic oil which is 15w40. They also have 0w40, 5w30, 5w40, 10w40 etc. but they recommend 15w40 for diesel engines.
