I have a GSD she's nearing her heat.

how many days will I count once she is in heat for me to get a male GSD for the stud?

how would I know that she is preggy after the stud and if the stud was succesfull?

how and how many months will she deliver the babies once she is preggy?

I posted in philippinepetfinder based on my experience medyo matagal kasi mag reply in their forums, just hoping someone in tsikot can help or is a breeder and can answer my Q..

First heat? From what I know, my vet told me that the stud has to be proven..meaning it has had to have impregnated a female before.. to have a good chance of pregnancy. It takes aproximately 9 weeks before the puppies are born..roughly 63-65 days.

ur question about how long a dog will stay in heat.. Here's something I found a while back, when my dog got her first heat:

How long does a dog stay in heat?

The heat cycle of the female dog has three parts and lasts about 3 weeks. The first part lasts anywhere from 3-14 days during which a bloody discharge and swelling of the vaginal area are usually seen. Next the dog will become receptive to being bred and actively may seek out a male dog. This is the time when she can become pregnant. The discharge may change color at this time and become lighter. Finally, the discharge will become clearer, the vaginal swelling will diminish and the dog will no longer allow herself to be bred. While your dog is in heat you must watch her carefully to avoid unwanted breeding and subsequent puppies. If you are not planning on breeding your dog, please have her spayed to help prevent unwanted puppies.

when will she be actively seeking out a male dog, is it within the 1st week of her heat cycle?

count 9 days.
then have her stud.

i usually pick 9th, 11th, 13th day.
then, 2mos from stud. she'll give birth.

but that's all in a perfect world.
sometimes, dogs are not fertile 9th, 11th, 13th.
some are fertile as early as 6th day..some as late as 15th day. and some, even if fertile, the stud naman ang not fertile..

as for pregnancy, 2mos...but sometimes early..sometimes late that they dog has to have cs..
