No more BTV on SkyCable in 2008?

Saw this in another board which I frequent.

News floating around is that SkyCable won't be carrying the ff. channels on its roster starting 2008:

1. BTV
2. ETC
3. ETC 2nd Avenue
4. Solar Sports
5. Jack TV

The reason being given is that not enough cable tv subscribers watch these channels anyway. Can anyone confirm if this is true? If it is, it really sucks because we'll probably miss half of the NBA season. It's just like what happened years ago when Star TV pulled out from SkyCable and along with it went ESPN, Star Sports, Star TV and Star Movies.

tsk tsk tsk,, seems like totoo ito. i just confirmed it sa friend ng anak ng

owner ng Destiny Cable (haha magulo ba?) according to the son of the

owner, they now own the exclusive rights to the Solar group of channels

(inc. Solar Sports, BTV, ETC, 2nd Avenue, JackTV) One of the reasons daw

kaya lilipat yung Solar is apparently due to SKYCable's (owned by ABS-CBN)

poaching of Pacman's fights from Solar Sports. Again, this is not 100% sure,

naikwento lang ngayon sa akin ng friend ko.

My significant other and my Mom watch ETC quite often... and I know a hell of a lot of guys who watch nothing but Solar Sports and Jack.

baka naman kagaya nung last time na nangyari, tinanggal na nga nila star channels e nagtaas pa sila ng singil. kaya lumipat na lang kami sa destiny.

why don't they just erase those foreign channels almost no one watches, like the chinese, indian, taiwanese and some korean channels.
Why take out the english channels.

too bad naman pala..anyway can anybody please help.I am sending a new sony bravia 1080lcd tv sa pinas.we are using skycable..how can we view a clear crips picture. high definiton? and since its 110 i am going to buy a voltage converter too..what else do i need to make this unit functional sa atin sa pinas? sir/mam..help...!..what is a digibox?..will this do the wonder..we are located in pasig.thanks.

Well, I don't think Skycable's signal is in HD, so your LCD TV won't do much to improve the video quality or resolution. The digibox you're referring to is a device which they are attaching to the subscriber's TV set to prevent signal piracy. It really doesn't do much to improve picture quality.

sad naman..kailan kaya magiging digital?.. so its a bad decission to buy an lcd tv from US to Pinas.. wala bang mga gadget na mai-aatach mo make it work out.?
