we are never a world-class basketball playing nation, even if we have naturalized foreign players.

pitted against their counterparts in the US, Europe, and South America, all our big men playing in the PBA, then and now, are all bunch of lampa.

i said it then and i say it again: basketball is not for midgets. no way midgets could compete in the world stage of basketball.

insanity, according to Albert Einstein, is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.

uruguay is just a small country (176,215 square km) in south america with a population of less than 4M and GDP of $82.406 billion, while the philippines is twice larger at 343,448 square km with a population of 100M. our GDP is 10 times bigger at $955.587 billion. if we are poor, they are dirt poor.

but, in the world cup, uruguay has clobbered russia, defeated cristiano ronaldo and portugal.

our sports officials should bite the bullet and make a paradigm shift. basketball is a lost cause. let us shift all our efforts, energy, and resources to another undertaking where we could outshine even the best in the world.

this insanity must come to an end.
I heartily agree. In fact, we're currently the #1 men's football team in the asean region right now. We did that turn around from the worst to the best in just 7 -8 years. Not a small feat since thailand, indonesia & Singapore are true blue footballing nations w/ naturalized players to boot. And add to that, both our men's & women's team have qualified for the prestigious asian football confederation ( afc) asian cup , this region's world cup.

Ang problema filipinos don't find the appeal in playing "the beautiful game" talaga. Dito nga sa tsikot ako lang ata nanunuod sa rizal memorial football stadium kapag may laro azkals. Eh halos pamigay na nga nila ticket sa presyong P50

Sad to say, that that strong football achievement we've had may be shortlived since the pro football league operating right now is in near collapse because basically no one is watching. Our primo players are now playing in thailand, singapore, indonesia, and malaysia. No audience means no sponsors and no sponsors means no more quality players to field & feed our national team.
