Obesity a Major Obstacle to Good *** Life

    By Randy Dotinga
    HealthDay Reporter

    Excerpts

New research confirms the worst fears of those who worry about putting on extra pounds: Severely overweight people are much more likely to report poor *** lives.
In some areas of their *** lives, the obese report 25 times as many problems as people of weight levels considered healthy. Both men and women suffered from lack of ***ual desire and enjoyment along with hampered performance. Many reported avoiding *** entirely.

The study results suggest that many fat people share similar challenges on the ***ual level, said study co-author Martin Binks, a clinical psychologist and director of behavioral science at Duke University's Diet and Fitness Center. "It's important for people to know it's not something that's wrong with them. It's something that other people experience. They're not alone in this."

Binks and his colleagues surveyed 1,210 people from the Durham, N.C., area. Most had sought treatment at Duke's diet center, and all but 282 were obese, with an average body mass index of 41. The index indicates whether a person's weight is proportional to his or her height; a 5 foot, 5 inch person weighing 250 pounds would have a BMI of 41.

Half of those seeking treatment for obesity said they sometimes, usually or always felt no desire for ***, compared to just 2 percent of those who were not obese. About four out of every 10 treatment-seekers reported physical problems with ***; 41 percent said they avoided ***. In contrast, just 2.5 percent of the non-obese people said they stayed away from ***ual activity.

Obese people who didn't seek treatment reported more ***ual satisfaction, but they remained much less likely to report normal *** lives than the non-obese.

***ual difficulties among the obese are "a more common problem than one would expect, and they deserve treatment," Binks said. He speculated that self-esteem issues may contribute to the ***ual problems facing the obese, whose numbers are growing.

wow..woe on these 41 bmis..i just want to share one docu feature of a south african woman in her 30s..she was so fat her whole frame covered the whole queen size bed, bedridden, spoon-fed and can just sit on the bed after being assisted and wrestled in the whole process..*** life was the least of her priority..

she had only one wish, though..a new place with a fantastic view of the outside world before she dies..wish was considered by the local authorities but not too easy to materialize..first step is she has to get out of the room but one problem here: the door opening is standard but too narrow for her frame..!..solution..break the goddamn door & the whole wall for that matter..2nd worry.. she lives upstairs & the staircase proved too tight as well..solution..bring in a team of carpenter crew to provide a sliding ramp for her..3rd challenge..the ambulance came to fetch her but after some head scratching and arguments the medics left empty handed..hindi nanaman siya magkasya sa ambulansya..!

your guess is as good as mine..she just have to stay behind her apartment for the rest of her life..as to the cost of refurbishing the apartment to its original condition nobody from the docu producers bothered to find out..

kaya ako i maintained a frame built of roughly 19.5 body mass index..mahirap na..

    Obesity a growing health epidemic
    (Manila Bulletin)

THE rising incidence of obesity is a growing health concern for all age groups in the Philippines and around the world. Defined as an unhealthy amount of body fat, obesity has become a global epidemic that until recently had gone mostly unrecognized. According to a World Health Organization (WHO) report, three million deaths are attributable to overweight and obesity annually. Worldwide, there are a billion overweight adults, 300 million of whom are clinically obese. Unless urgent action is taken the WHO predicts that the number of the world’s overweight will swell to five million in the next 20 years.

The factors contributing to obesity are not expected to recede anytime soon. In many cultures in the past, obesity had been prized as sign of wealth and health. But being overweight is not about being rich and well fed. While there are many causes that contribute to obesity, the strongest factors have been an unbalanced diet combined with reduced physical exercise; a sedentary workforce, and lifestyle choices compounded by a high-fat, high-sugar content diet.

The Food and Agriculture Organization has sounded an alarm over childhood obesity which is also rising everywhere because children are becoming less active while taking in more calories. Many developing nations are facing a double challenge – widespread hunger on one hand and the rapid increases in diabetes and cardiovascular diseases on the other.

Statistics show that obesity accounts for two to three percent of total health care costs in developed countries and has a severe impact in terms of lost productivity at the work place and on a company’s medical fees and lost productivity. The costs are likely to skyrocket over the next few years as obesity catches up to smoking as the number one preventable cause of death in many countries.

While experts concede that genes play an important factor in determining a person’s weight gain, it is in many cases preventable. From a moral perspective, overeating appears unacceptable in a world where close to a billion people are still constantly hungry. To those who tend to overeat, it would be to their advantage to be aware of the inherent risks and hazards of an unbalanced diet and to change their eating habits to significantly curb the upward trend in this health epidemic.

    urban myth.

regarding obesity this is what i have to say...

This society who frowns so much on obese people, is the very same society who has bombarded us (and is continuously doing so) with all the types of publicity glorifying the thin people. This society has succeeded in influencing our conscious and subconscious minds that skinny people deserve all the praise, all the adoration, all the idolization and all the admiration of the general public. It has become the society’s norm that obese ness is utterly disgusting and unacceptable.

Just look around you – be it on the television, big screen, newspapers, flashy magazines and even the internet, it is always the skinny people who drink the 100% pure cows milk, wear fashionable clothes, get handsome grades, have many friends. Don’t you notice that they are always almost successful in all aspects of their lives? Aren’t they so perfect?

And what about the "schlock" obese creatures? Well, advertisers and producers regard them as good subjects for humiliation, ignominy and toilet humor, which I honestly find very nonsensical.

That’s how I see it – this is the society obsessed in losing weight. The society whose dogma is focused in being thin is in. The society who sees obesity as an unforgivable sin a disease and the person an outcast.

The very same society we all live in.
