a deadly polio case has resurfaced in a young female patient from lanao del sur. the highly contagious disease has made a comeback after the world health org declared the Ph polio disease free almost 2 decades ago.

the reemergence of the illness can be traced to the vaccine scare w/c has plagued the country in recent years.

Only children were given the vaccine during the who-doh vaccination campaign. It is possible that an adult contracted polio overseas and did not develop symptoms, came home within the infectious stage time frame, then passed it on. Baka umebak sa ilog (picnic-picnic kasi kakauwi lang from abroad) then the victim was exposed to the contaminated water. Malas niya kasama siya sa 5% na nagdedevelop ng symptoms after contracting the virus. And sa 1% na deadly ang symptoms.

most probably hindi nga polio iyong mga nakikkita mo since 3 dysfunctional countries na lang , according to the who, ang currently may infected citizens (pakistan, nigeria, and afghanistan) .... ngayon 4 na kasama tayo. ergo, dysfunctional na din tayo

I'm more worried about the rising cases of people being infected with HIV. Many don't even know they carry it.

Polio at least has known and counter effective measures for it.

many times, we do something, with a specific objective in mind.
it sometimes boggles the mind... when another, un-anticipated effect comes into play, as a result of our activity.

    kulang sa health&science education

kung ikaw edukado kang tao alam mo those old childhood vaccines work

    MMR (measles, mumps, rubella)

    POLIO

    DPT (diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis)

those vaccines have been proven safe and they work (you got healthy parents/grandparents/great grandparents as proof)

    ung Dengvaxia bago lang

ung inability to distinguish, ung generalizing all vaccines -- that's more lack of education than anything else

doh should have gone on an active campaign to promote these tried-and-tested vaccines, when they noticed that more and more parents were shunning vaccination.

Why would that be DepEd's failure? Kids know vaccine is good (painful yes but good). Its the parents who got brainwashed by a few dumbasses with professional licences.
